About this listen

A crew of 47 aboard an Alaskan fishing boat ominously nicknamed “The Danger Ranger” had been counting on a final run deep into the Bering Sea as a last-ditch effort to save a mediocre fishing season. Before ever arriving, they had to abandon ship in 32-degreewater amidst 20-foot swells and driving snow. Their last hope? A cook making the key calls, a helicopter running out of fuel, and a rookie rescue swimmer who had never saved anyone in open water. On one level, this is the true-life story of the Alaska Ranger sinking and of the rescue that followed - the most daring in the history of the Bering. Below the surface, however, lies a story that is about guilt and bravery, pain and pride, and both the worst but most importantly the best of who we are.©2021 Campside Media (P)2021 Audible Originals, LLC Americas Social Sciences United States

So this is a podcast.
The story is great. Interviews telling the story about a ship that sank and the rescue. Forty seven men went in the water twenty two came out. The interviews are believable; they're not goofy dramatic. Okay, maybe once or twice, this gets a pass because it was freezing. And who gets rescued and who meets Davies Jones locker?

Flynn captures an amazingly complex rescue operation keeping me listening until the credits rolled at the end. "Wait...What?" I thought after hitting play and starting the first episode based on the unusual way to start. Amazing how he was able to capture the emotions of the fisherman and the Coast Guard rescuers throughout each episode.

Nailed It!
