Professor Reiter teaches Criminology and Law & Society at UC Irvine's School of Law and, additionally, serves as the Director of LIFTED (Leveraging Inspiring Futures Through Educational Degrees), the first in-prison BA-degree completion program in the University of California system. Hector Cervantes is the Program Director for Underground Scholars, a program designed to attract and retain previously incarcerated students so they may successfully complete their studies on campus after release. We discuss the individual and societal benefits of these programs, how the programs continue to grow, and how you can help!

Julie turned this tragedy into a call to action to ensure no family has to suffer the pain of preventable drowning.
