On this week's show, I was delighted to spend time with Elliot Dell, the CEO of Salt - a well known brand in the Digital Recruitment market, globally. Headquartered in London with 220 staff across offices in Asia, Australia, USA and the Middle East, Elliot joined as a recruiter and worked his way up to CEO after 10 years.

Salt didn’t actually exist when he joined, it was a small, family owned exec search business that soon changed with Elliot’s influence. As Salt gathered momentum, they soon acquired another business named 'Salt’ in New Zealand and that’s where things really took off.

Elliot has an incredible energy and passion for growing a fantastic business that can truly change the Digital Recruitment world. Whilst growing international teams at work, he is also the father of 3 children and has a super active lifestyle - an inspirational guy for sure!

Today I was joined by Doeke, the co-founder of WeAreKeen and agency providing in-house recruitment teams to start-ups, scale-ups and large enterprises across the Netherlands.

In this episode, he talked about how his country has reacted and dealt with lockdown and how his business has had to adapt to the change. Being an in-house agency with a relationship focused approach, he revealed how this has enabled them to stay close and support both clients and suppliers through a time that effects us all!

Today I was joined by David, Founder of Bailey Jude, an independent recruitment agency specialising in Marketing and Creative talent.

David has been in the game for 23 yrs, the last 5 of which has been leading his current business.

In this episode David opened up a number mistakes he has made and what he has learnt as a result. In the early days, whilst still working alone, he decided to take on a 1000ft office space with a 6 year lease. Over the coming years he grew the business to 8 people and that’s when things went wrong for him.

At the turn of 2020, David decided to step out of the office and scale back to just himself in an effort to re set the foundations and have another attempt at growing the business he really desires.

Today I was joined by Chris, Co-Founder of Sourcr, a specialist review platform that allows recruitment agencies to control and publish reviews based on their performance with a HQ in Sydney.

In this episode Chris told the story of how and why he and his partner James created the platform, how receptive the Australian market has been and finally how COVID-19 has affected their business.

I will be honest, I was pretty dubious about this product until I spoke to the guys and seen it in action. Today I was joined by Gary, a Senior Recruiter who was enrolled onto the Job Retention Scheme in early April 2020. A little frustrated at the time, he felt it was important that he make use of this time he was given.

In this episode Gary told us that when a family member was struck by COVID-19, he decided to ‘Run for Reg’ and run 100miles from a treadmill at home. After raising 6k for charity and getting featured on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV breakfast show, he realised that people everywhere were reaching out to him to ask for advice and support on making the most of the time on furlough.

Since then, he’s launched an initiative called ‘FurLearn’ which is designed to bring inspirational stories, training and support to a fast growing community of people currently furloughed and unemployed across the UK.

Today I was joined by James, the Founder & Director of Rule Recruitment, a well known Rec2Rec business headquartered in Wimbledon, South West London.

In this episode we talked about his personal experience of lockdown and how the market is showing really promising signs at the moment, going from 5 interviews on the board 3 weeks ago, to 40 on the board today!

Most notably, James talked about the fact that the recruiters he has dealt with appear to be ready to get back to the office. Working from home has it’s perks but his experience suggests that many prefer the office as it helps them bond closer with colleagues and have clear divide between work and family life.
