About this listen

Since 2010, the We Hate Movies podcast has been loudly celebrating and tearing apart movies from across the spectrum: from forgotten '80s actioners and insane romantic comedies of the '90s, to the early CGI blockbusters of the aughts and the hyper-nostalgic franchises of the 2010s and today. Every week, comedians Andrew Jupin, Stephen Sajdak, Eric Szyszka, and Chris Cabin pick a movie from the near-past to discuss and joke around about in all its positive and negative glory. Art

  • S15 Ep805: Willow
    Jun 10 2025
“There’re piles of skulls, which of course I appreciate” - Steve on the set design

On this week’s episode, Totally Cool Awesome 80s Month and the Summer Blockbuster Extravaganza pay tribute to the late, great Val Kilmer with a convo about the super-fun Ron Howard fantasy flick, Willow! How amazing are Warwick and Val together on screen? Isn’t it refreshing that Davis was just allowed to put a shirt on and be this character, without getting covered in prosthetics or whatever else? Wouldn’t things have been just fine in this movie without the Brownies flying around? And how amazing is that two-headed Siskel & Ebert monster? PLUS: Queen Bavmorda accidentally touches The Ooze and becomes Super Bavmorda (and is also played by Kevin Nash)!

Willow stars Warwick Davis, Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley, Jean Marsh, Patricia Hayes, Billy Barty, Mark Northover, Pat Roach, David Sternberg, Phil Fondacaro, Tony Cox, Kevin Pollak, Rick Overton, and Gavan O’Herlihy as Airk; directed by Ron Howard.

  • S15 Ep804: 28 Days Later (W❤️M) [TEASER CLIP]
    Jun 5 2025
“It’s been almost 25 years and this thing still rips!” - Andrew

On this month’s We ❤️ Movies, we’re talking about Danny Boyle’s landmark horror masterpiece, 28 Days Later! How incredible is John Murphy’s score here? How surprising is it that the early-DV cinematography still holds up so well? How amazing are these performances from Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, and Brendan Gleeson? Is this Danny Boyle’s best movie? And how long are the guys lasting in this post-Rage Virus world, ya think? Two days? PLUS: Extensive soda talk!

28 Days Later stars Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Brendan Gleeson, Megan Burns, Marvin Campbell, Luke Mably, Stuart McQuarrie, Ricci Harnett, Leo Bill, and Christopher Eccleston as Major West; directed by Danny Boyle.

  • S15 Ep803: Rambo: First Blood Part II
    Jun 3 2025
“He’s the walking dead!” - Eric on contemporary Sly’s look

On this week’s episode, the Summer Blockbuster Extravaganza launches into month two by celebrating the Totally Cool Awesome 80s! First up, we’re talking about the stupidly-titled Rambo: First Blood Part II! How funny is it that this movie pulls a complete 180 on the philosophy of the first film? How great is Sly’s hair in this one? Couldn’t they have had a few more action scenes with Martin Kove? How wild is it that Predator completely ripped off the Rambo covered in mud bit? And why didn’t Murdock get a rockin’ death in this? PLUS: Fellow veterans, Bebop and Rocksteady, meet John Rambo!

Rambo: First Blood Part II stars Sylvester Stallone, Richard Crenna, Charles Napier, Steven Berkoff, Julia Nickson, George Cheung, and Martin Kove as Ericson; directed by George P. Cosmatos.

Honestly, could have been awesome if they weren't intent on proving their virtue. They are pretty damn funny sometimes and othertimes so cringy that it made me just stop caring and find something else to listen to.

What could have been.
