About this listen

On the trail of a vicious criminal, agent Chance Mackenzie found the perfect bait for his trap: Sunny Miller. So Chance made himself the only man she could trust—and then arranged for her long-missing father to find out about them.

What Chance hadn't foreseen was that Sunny had reasons of her own for hiding from her father—and now Chance's deception had brought them both one step closer to the end of everything they held dear….

Good story

I love this series! Really good story of family togetherness. Really, really bad audio for the entire series.

Great romantic suspense!

When the daughter of a terrorist meets a handsome pilot in an airport during an attempted robbery, little does she know what adventure is about to happen! He’s really an undercover agent and their meeting was no accident. He’s after information on her father and thinks she’s working for the man. But in actuality, she’s been on the run from her father her entire life. Having engineered a false merge by with the plane and setting down in an isolated canyon, the hero is about to find out that everything is not what he thought and that his heart wasn’t made of stone after all. Narration was well done .

Not Tired of This Series

Same damsel in distress, but with an amazing twist! Really liked this audiobook.
I know I came late to the MacKenzie party, but binge listening twice in a row caught me up on all of the laughs from mixing all of these characters together and baking the into a family. Very good series!

Catching up with favorite friends

What did you love best about A Game of Chance?

Finding out what the Mckenzies are doing and how the family has grown.

What other book might you compare A Game of Chance to and why?

Mckenzies Pleasure

Which character – as performed by Kali Dziuba – was your favorite?

I really didn't have a favorite as it was hard to tell one from another at first.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Naming the baby "Wolf".

Any additional comments?

It was too fantastical, not realistic, but I like the Mckenzies.

Good story with a good albeit female narrator

If you could sum up A Game of Chance in three words, what would they be?

Disappointing, but only because this book was not as terrifically 5 stars as the preceding two. Note that I HATE "woman in jeopardy" stories, but then Chance must use the woman he loves as bait BOTH to catch the bad guy and to free her from a life on the run. But he should have let her in on it and trusted her to be strong enough to help him end her life of terror. In addition, Chance isn't careful enouth of Sunny after he tricks her into the line of fire.

What other book might you compare A Game of Chance to and why?

Mackenzie's Pleasure - much better story featuring Chance's brother Zane featuring a strong heroine who refuses to be a victim after she's kidnapped by terrorists from a rich socialite's life. Also, Zane is much more focused on protecting his lover in that story than Chance is, even after he realizes she's the target of a perverted madman.

What does Kali Dziuba bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I would have preferred the same male narrator as the preceding books in the series because this series have such very tough, take-charge male protagonists from a very male family. Another review that deplores the female narrator is way off base. She does an excellent job

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Chance realizes that Sunny is running from her father not acting as his agent

One of my favorite McKenzie stories

Just love Sunny & Chance’s story. The secrets they both carry. To find each other and survive what life throws at them. One of my favorite McKenzies. How could you not fall in love with them both. 💕

Chance gets even luckier

I’m so glad that Chance gets his own book and I love the parts with the extended Mackenzie family. I really like Sunny’s positivity; her determination to keep moving forward. She exemplifies a maxim I learned growing up: hope for the best, but plan for the worst. So, no matter what happens, you have a plan of action.
There is suspense because Chance insinuates himself into Sunny’s life to try to catch her father; only she is trying to hide from him to stay alive and free.
I cut out two paragraphs of rant to just say that I completely agree, there should NEVER have been a female narrator for this book, and I hope whoever made that decision is no longer allowed anywhere near audio production.
Whether the narrator is Kali Dziuba per the Audible description posting, or Kristin Johanson per the audio introduction, she has a very pleasant voice but should NOT have been used for this job. The right voice for a recording can add to a book when the production is well done.
