About this listen

Blair Mallory lives the good life. She's pretty, confident, and the owner of a thriving upscale fitness center. But in the shadow of success, a troubled member of the club develops a strange fixation on her, imitating her style and dress. Matters take a darker turn when the look-alike is shot dead - and Blair witnesses the horror.

As the media speculate on the tawdry details of the homicide and push Blair into the harsh spotlight, she locks horns with police lieutenant Wyatt Bloodsworth - he wants to lead an investigation without interference, while she is determined to probe the dead woman's life on her own.

But when someone begins to menace Blair with mounting threats, Wyatt takes notice: Was this murder indeed a lethal case of mistaken identity - and was Blair the intended victim?

I loved this story and Linda Howard!

But I struggled with the narrator. She made Blair sound older than the character. I was reluctant to purchase the audio because of the negative ratings on the narrator but have learned to trust my own instinct. Great story and characters but I couldn't rate it higher because of the narrator. Overall I really the story. Can't wait for Drop Dead Gorgeous.

Too Darn Funny

What was one of the most memorable moments of To Die For?

"That's just not fair"

What does Franette Liebow bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voice inflection makes the humor so much more than just the words

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book is cracking me up

Any additional comments?

Give the book a chance. I started it and didnt think I was going to like it at all. I am half way thru and am laughing out loud so I am hoping the rest is just a funny.

Wonderful Story...Laugh Out Loud Funny

Would you consider the audio edition of To Die For to be better than the print version?

I thought the same thing about the narrator when I first started listening, "Is she an old woman?" But as the book went on you got use to her voice, it is a little odd, but could only laugh at how funny she made spoiled little Blair sound. It was exactly how I pictured Blair. After listening to this first one and growing to love the southern, spoiled tone of her voice it made the second book almost, well boring. The southern accent turned into a country hick sound and you lost that sassy, cute southern girl that you loved so much in To Die For. If you listened once and gave this book a bad review because of the narrator, I say give it another go and really get to know Blair. Listen to how funny she is when she's laying in the parking lot and can't control what is coming out of her mouth. This book is a must read as far as I'm concered and I couldn't wait to hear more of Blair in the second book. That narrator did not capture Blair and I ended up having to get to know a total different character. Please try to stay with the same Narrator through a whole series. It would make for a truer story.

What does Franette Liebow bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She made Blair real.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughted out loud. Not many books can do that.

Any additional comments?

Stay true to your characters and keep the same narrator thought a series.

Hilarious and Entertaining!

I have to say, when I started listening to this book, I hated the narrator. It was like listening to a 75 year old woman read to you and her southern accent was way too dramatic. But surprisingly so, as the book progressed, I actually grew to like the narrator. She made the book very entertaining. I often found myself laughing out loud while I was listening at work. I read To Die For on paperback when it first came out but, it’s been so long, it was like listening to the book for the first time because I didn’t remember any of it. Instead of writing two books about Blaire, the author should have made it a trilogy for all three sisters. It would’ve been nice to see Sienna and Jennifer get their own story. My only complaint about this book were the PG-13 sex scenes. These were some of the most non-sex scenes I ever read by Linda Howard. She’s known for her steamy sex scenes so, I was really surprised at how stale they were. I hope she does better in Drop Dead Gorgeous. Other than that, I’d give this book five stars. It’s definitely worth the read.

Great story Horrible narrator

I love this book I have read it so many times the cover has fallen off. I was so excited to listen to it. However, after 1 minute in I hated it. This has got to be the worse fake southern accent in the history of the world. I am from Alabama and this lady made me want to puncture my ear drums. Great book but don’t listen to it, read it

One of my favorites from Linda Howard

Hilariously funny. The performer takes a little getting used to but the longer you listen the better you like her. I have listened to this story a multitude of times and still laugh out loud all the way through. Do u have school today?

I Love This Book It's A Repeat Listener for Me

Where does To Die For rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks at the top of my list because I've listened to it multiple times. It's fun and funny and leaves me feeling like smiling.

What was one of the most memorable moments of To Die For?

The laughs. I also like the way Blair pretends to be the dumb blonde when it suits her but that she is really far from being a dumb blonde. I really enjoy the way two leads interact with each other.

Have you listened to any of Franette Liebow’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have. She's been great in both of the books I've heard her perform. I thought Franette's performance was great. She made the characters all sound just like the people I know from that area and she brought each character to their own light. The sass she gave Blair was perfect and the exasperation for Wyatt was just what you would expect. You could feel how much he loved her but at the same time wanted to put her over his knee too. LOL She made all the characters seem real. Making it seem like you were right there with them.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but at the same time, I didn't want it to end. Which is why I love the second book, Drop Dead Gorgeous just as much as this one

Any additional comments?

This is just an all around good book. If you are looking for something fun to read/listen to, that will leave you smiling....You won't go wrong with this one.
