About this listen

Blair Mallory lives the good life. She's pretty, confident, and the owner of a thriving upscale fitness center. But in the shadow of success, a troubled member of the club develops a strange fixation on her, imitating her style and dress. Matters take a darker turn when the look-alike is shot dead - and Blair witnesses the horror.

As the media speculate on the tawdry details of the homicide and push Blair into the harsh spotlight, she locks horns with police lieutenant Wyatt Bloodsworth - he wants to lead an investigation without interference, while she is determined to probe the dead woman's life on her own.

But when someone begins to menace Blair with mounting threats, Wyatt takes notice: Was this murder indeed a lethal case of mistaken identity - and was Blair the intended victim?

funny

love this story! the diolog is sharp, and engaging.
the narration contributes because the story is southern and the narrator add to the flavor.

I loved this story and Linda Howard!

But I struggled with the narrator. She made Blair sound older than the character. I was reluctant to purchase the audio because of the negative ratings on the narrator but have learned to trust my own instinct. Great story and characters but I couldn't rate it higher because of the narrator. Overall I really the story. Can't wait for Drop Dead Gorgeous.

Such bad narration makes you not want to finish the book!! Love Linda Howard and all of her stories but this one need to be recorded again by someone else!

One of my favorites from Linda Howard

Hilariously funny. The performer takes a little getting used to but the longer you listen the better you like her. I have listened to this story a multitude of times and still laugh out loud all the way through. Do u have school today?

I Love This Book It's A Repeat Listener for Me

Where does To Die For rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks at the top of my list because I've listened to it multiple times. It's fun and funny and leaves me feeling like smiling.

What was one of the most memorable moments of To Die For?

The laughs. I also like the way Blair pretends to be the dumb blonde when it suits her but that she is really far from being a dumb blonde. I really enjoy the way two leads interact with each other.

Have you listened to any of Franette Liebow’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have. She's been great in both of the books I've heard her perform. I thought Franette's performance was great. She made the characters all sound just like the people I know from that area and she brought each character to their own light. The sass she gave Blair was perfect and the exasperation for Wyatt was just what you would expect. You could feel how much he loved her but at the same time wanted to put her over his knee too. LOL She made all the characters seem real. Making it seem like you were right there with them.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but at the same time, I didn't want it to end. Which is why I love the second book, Drop Dead Gorgeous just as much as this one

Any additional comments?

This is just an all around good book. If you are looking for something fun to read/listen to, that will leave you smiling....You won't go wrong with this one.

Funny and intriguing

Would you consider the audio edition of To Die For to be better than the print version?

Both print and audio editions are good however the reader was terrible. Fake southern accent that sounded like someone who has never been around southerners would think it should sound.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Blair - such a character yet bright and successful.

How could the performance have been better?

Different narrator who has researched accents.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Overall fun and entertaining.

Voice matters!

I love this story. Have always loved Linda Howard. This performance sounds like a 70 year old woman reading the part of a 30 year old. Her voice shakes in places and kind of cracks. The southern accent is a little over done in several places.

Pretty good

Not that I didn't like it obviously by the 4 star but there is to much explicit sex scenes for me. also I don't get the macho man forcing women to do anything after they say no to begin with. Using an attraction against them is wrong. But I liked the rest of the book.

Good Book Bad Performace

My review follows many of my fellow listeners, good book but bad narration. I found Blair to be a very refreshing character in the book, a true southern bell and her relationship with Wyatt was more believable then some other books. However I did not enjoy Franette Liebow’s voice in this book... I got used to it after a while of listening but each time I stopped and then listened to the book later I had to get re-used to it again her southern accent seemed really fake to me and not believable. But overall I'd say give it a try...

love the story

While I loved the story, I did not care for the narrator. The voice she used for Blair made her sound like an old woman.
