About this listen

A gay romance of heartfelt passion between an older married man and exuberant younger chef—a chance meeting that changes their lives.

At some point in every man’s life, he begins to reflect on his youth, his virility, his existence. Sometimes, he longs for a time when he was sexual, virile, on top of his game. Phillip had reached that point with a stagnant marriage, a dry life, until he took a moment for himself, until he found a solitary island and some private time for him. It was a moment that changed him forever—a moment when he met a young man who sparked something deep inside, an erotic world he'd never considered. It reawakened his youth and showed him his capacity for love, his joy of life. He experienced a Moment in Paradise.

Loved This Story

This one starts off a bit slow but it was so worth it to get beyond that. This story sucked me in and I'm still not sure it let me go yet.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Torn

So I have mixed feeling about this one. On the one hand it's beautifully written with great imagery and emotion on the other hand it's not a satisfying read. I don't think there is any real resolution to anything and this may be a little spoiler but i think based on the blurb everyone can deduce that there is cheating involved and I just honestly did not see what the point of the whole situation was it didn't really add much to the story other than to make it hard to like these characters, who really are good characters with an interesting story IMO that part just takes away from it. Narration was ok there was little differentiation to the voices so it did at times make it confusing as to who the speaker was but overall it was a pleasant listen.

Possibilities

A new author and narrator for me and I enjoyed both of them very much. Phillip is the focal character of this story. It starts with a realistic picture of a man just going through the motions in his life. His decision to travel and think about what his life has become and what needs to change leads to a relationship with a younger man and some answers that will change his life. I thought Ed Waldorph was a great fit for voicing Phillip in both his unhappy state and for vocally showing us the hope and joy Phillip begins to feel.

Island Vacation = Fairy-Tale Love

This book is not my usual fare, but it was listed as a free ARC choice at Gay Romance Reviews and i decided to request it. The following is an honest (and voluntary) opinion of ‘A Moment in Paradise’.

Zackery Leigh’s story is suffused with an atmospheric feel. The readers’ perception is of a place and time slightly outside our world. The book is filled with a magical, fairy tale-like quality. While not exactly my cup of tea, Leigh’s wonderful writing makes this an enjoyable read.

I love reading stories with mature characters. Having Phillip as the sole POV puts a check in the plus column for me. Another plus–the story is in my preferred 3rd person POV.

Narration by Ed Waldorph is well-matched to Leigh’s story and enhances it nicely.

Excellent Story!!!

This book told of a bi-awakening, age-gap romance, the likes of which I have never read or heard before. The story was written so well, that it transports the listener to the vacation of your dreams with the sexiest tour guide! It took me awhile to get used to the narrator, which sounded a little monotone for my liking. However, that did not detract from the story enough to bring it down a star.

Different

This was a interesting listen. The narration was good. The storyline was good and though there was a cheating married man in this story I still enjoyed the way he finds life and excitement again. This story was good.

“Every year about the same time…”

This story is by a new to me author and a new to me narrator. I can't find anything about this author. There is no author profile anywhere.

I have to admit that I had to speed up the narration because the story seem to be dragging. That's one thing I like about audiobooks, the ability to speed up or slow down depending on one's preference.

I really love that one of the main characters was in his late 50's... there aren't that many books for my generation in the world of MM romance.

This book will probably not be popular for some due to the cheating, but for me it's just a piece of real life which isn't always lovey dovey and rainbows. Life is messy.

I love the pictures this author painted through words. I could almost feel the ocean breeze and the sand between my toes.

I'm wondering if there are plans for these characters in another book? Guess we will just have to wait and see

Age gap +20 years, gay for you or possible bi-wakening, brings the heat

Interesting storyline

This is an interesting storyline. I would like to make sure it is known that there is cheating, or at least that is what I would call the act. The descriptions of the tropical paradise are stellar. This is a new to me narrator and I personally like a little more differences in determining characters.
