About this listen

This full-length BWWM romance novel is a NO cliff-hanger stand-alone with a guaranteed HEA ending.

Imani is the new African American girl in small-town Oklahoma. Ajax is the sexy white rancher tasked with helping her settle into town. Ajax looks at her like he wants to rip her clothes off, but Imani has sworn off men forever - especially suave alpha males like Ajax. Not even Imani can resist the lean, muscular cowboy, no matter how badly she wants to say no.

This interracial romance is so deliciously hot it will melt your headphones. Listener discretion is advised for this sexy, naughty story about an African American woman and the white man she falls in love with.

She found love in an unexpected place!

Imani was not intending to find love while on her business trip in the "sundown town" of Homer, Oklahoma. But this beautiful countryman was determined to keep her. She and her co-worker Marco was sure there were some unsavory things going on Ajax's father's ranch. Imani had to think with her mind, not her heart, where Ajax was concerned. She did not know if he was involved or harbored the same old racist feelings as his father. Imani had to proceed cautiously, especially after a bad breakup with her previous boyfriend.

Things were happening quickly between Imani and Ajax. Both were in love with each other but the uncovered secret that Ajax's father was hiding made him rethink his life and needed a big change, but he wanted that change with Imani.

This story was a little too predictable. Imani and Ajax's relationship took off a little too fast for me. But they still got their HEA.

Thought provoking!!!!

I applaud the author for tackling the ugliness of racism and its potential negative impact on the core romance between the couple!!!! Good job!!!

Meh!

First the narration was horrible but the storyline was interesting. The sex scenes hot and steamy but overkill as it became the only thing they did which doesn’t convince me a relationship can grow between those two people. But if this story was more about the hot sex scenes then job well job. I like a story where I can see a relationship grow as well as a physical attraction.

storyline

I would have rated this book higher, but the narration was awful, the storyline and characters were not believable. sex in most bwwm books happens unrealistically. the storyline is the same.

The narration was awful.

This has to be by far the worst narration I’ve ever heard on Audible. It’s sad because it takes away from the actual book.

Simp is not a personality

I just finished listening to Jamila Jasper's Zodiac Man series (at least what's on audible) and it was REALLY good. Short, bite-sized stories devoted to exploring interracial love with a kinky/taboo edge. It's not often an author writes bwwm, let alone gives the men a breeding kink (it's common with shifters not humans), but that's what she did in those Zodiac novellas. It made those relationships raw and primal.

This book was another story. The writing felt very immature. The premise should have been 🔥: an educated bw from NYC takes an Erin Brockovich style job rooting out polluters in a rural Oklahoma sundown town - where she falls in love. Instead this book was more like 'cardboard cutout A' meets 'cardboard cutout B' and they have extremely boring sex while she internally worries about everything - including the ex that made a fool of her FOR YEARS. The main characters were blah, not multifaceted. They fell into bed with barely a handshake (and it wasn’t hot). Also, the first 40min of this book were devoted to showing the mfc (Imani) to be the weakest black woman in history. She never redeems herself.
