About this listen

Dawson Shay could never be accused of being a bubbly ray of sunshine. Like, not ever. But her outlook on life has only gotten worse since she moved across the country for her dream job rebuilding motorcycles . . . only to lose the job to someone else. Now her run of bad luck includes a wilderness retreat with the entire company—including the asshat who stole her job. Fortunately, Tully Faulkner's bearded, tattooed hotness is pretty much the perfect distraction.

Except, Tully isn't just Mr. Hometown Hero, he's also said asshat who stole her job. And if he thinks he can win her over with his ability to charm the pants off everybody else, he's got another thing coming. But Dawson can't avoid him forever . . . or the seriously hot sparks between them. Somewhere between the breathtaking northern lights and teaming up to win their company's scavenger hunt, Dawson starts to think that Tully's magic touch might be just what she's been missing.

But even sexy gearheads have their secrets. And Dawson's about to discover that falling for the too-perfect-to-be-true Tully might just backfire on her completely . . .

Contains mature themes.

So the story was really great, the narration was my stumbling block. I think I would have like it better if the male parts were actually played by a male.

Love the story

super cute story. different from the military romance we can typically expect from this author, but very cute. I am really tired of reading stories about black women who don't have a strong community or relationship with their kin. we don't all have shitty families or lack of close friends prior to starting a new chapter in our lives. i would love to see the diversity of those relationship represented in stories were we are the lead

cute

I enjoyed the story and will finish the series. I wish there were 2 narrators, or she had a better voice range. Her performance was ok, but the main make character busy sounded like he was sick all the time. I enjoyed the story.

Well written, Colorful Characters, very enjoyable story!

I love this story. It’s very relatable and in some versions realistic. I enjoyed the story and the chemistry between the two MC. 💛 can’t wait for the next one. Us brown curvy girls will love and appreciate it.

Relatable. Hot and funny.

I didn’t understand why Dawson hated Telley it wasn’t his fault that he got the job over Dawson. Her anger should have been towards her employer who did not honor their promise. I understood why she was angry with Telley about the bet. I think the story would have made more sense if she had
Confronted the employer for denying her the job. It made no sense for her to dislike Telley over a job that the employer denied her not Telley. Other than that the story wasn’t bad. The narrator could have been better, The narrator voice made it hard to listen to the story, the narrator didn’t bring the character to life she read like she was reading to herself not a audience.

Unfortunately I’d have to call this book a waste of my time. The FMC is just plain unlikable. She’s wish washy and inconsistent, like the author didn’t really flush out her personality. Like she’s quiet and reserved but somehow she has great relationships with everyone but the MMC. The plotlines for the moms also didn’t make any sense. And worst of all, the resolution lasted waaaaay too long for what it was. It truly just made me roll my eyes. The only reason I kept listening was because I was hoping for a decent payout but we didn’t even get that. Based off this book I don’t think I’ll be reading more from this author. And the narrator should have been black. A story about a black woman voiced by a non black woman is disappointing.

Disappointing

If not for the arbitrary F bombs and sex, the rest of this played like teens at summer camp. Girls and boys hung with their respective gender, each picked someone from the other group, and then they gossiped endlessly about juvenile things.

I heard no plausible reason for the “that should’ve been my job” conflict, and the conflict was one-sided (and mostly just in her head); he was nothing but a drooling fanboy from page one, calling her Legs and just wanting to cuddle. 🙄

On top of the nonsensical plot and bad dialogue, the narration was robotic and begged for a male narrator to sell the sizzle of a beefcake of a tattooed man. I’m afraid this book failed to live up to it’s vibrant cover.

Shallow and flat
