About this listen

AYVINX

One more job and I'm out. I'm done with this lousy planet. Deliver the human female to the Imperator of Fenda, so he can have an exotic new addition to his royal harem.

But I can't get enough of her. This feisty little human has the spirit of a true Zalaryn warrior. Just my luck. I've been blessed with a bonded mate - and she's the property of another male. I don't care what the law says: She's mine.

I've got a plan. And I can't wait to claim my prize....

JULA

I suppose this spaceship is better than rotting in an Earth jail cell. Because that's where I belong. I'm a thief. A killer. Trust means nothing to me...unless I can use it to get what I want.

This alien mercenary thinks he can tame me, thinks he can use me as a pawn in this intergalactic war? Let him try. He's making me sweet promises, but too bad for him, I know how this game is played. I know the rules. And I know how to win.

If I want to get off this planet, I have no choice but to trust him.

But when he tells me that I'm his bonded mate, I realize that maybe this isn't a game after all. Maybe it's something much, much more....

Contains mature themes.

good

I don't like the constant "he said" "I said" "she said" back to back. when the voice clearly changes to the characters the voices represent.

Not Sure…

This series was different; the way Human females were treated was just so wrong, after hearing this for the third time quite honestly it got under my skin. Glad there wasn’t a fourth book in the series because I would have to pass. Narrators did a good job with characters; the human female was just too much in the Twilight Zone.

human activist meets alien mercenary

this was my favorite is the series. I liked the sassy bad ass activist breaking into the corrupt fashion industry to make necessary winter clothes for the poor. she was a good match for the mercenary with the hero streak. he was honest and up front and I appreciated her willingness to help others around her even with her circumstances. the overall storyline running though the series is tied up nicely. the narrators were decent and it was a good listen.

Good backstory, but silly intimate scenes!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚❤️

Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: ☹️☺️😒😍
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Jula - she is a murderer and thief on a mission to steal material from the clothiers who only make clothes for the wealthy, when she is arrested. She is known as arachne, she uses stolen material and weaves clothes and stitches her icon into each of the items of clothes she makes and sells or gives to the people who usually can’t afford them. She runs and ends up being caught by two Zalaryn males. They find she is marked as one of theirs, since she is a virgin and has compatible DNA.

The Hero: Ayvinx - He is a Zalaryn warrior but chose to be a mercenary, so he will do just about anything for a good payday as he owes a lot of money to a loan shark named Gunga. He was tasked by the Zalaryn high king to go to the Fenda and help train them to defend themselves since their planet has the kezo minerals needed to power large spaceships and the Zalaryn’s don’t want those mines to fall into the hands of the enemy. Also, as a sign of good faith, the Fendan emperador has requested a marked female, so Ayvinx has to transport her to Fenda.

The Story: Jula is taken to the slave auction and is in the process of nearly being abused by the Zalaryn doctor and four other males when Ayvinx comes in to get a human woman. Ayvinx chooses Jula as the female he will take to the Fenda emperador. Though once there, Ayvinx doesn’t want to give Jula away. He wants to protect her and keep her for himself.

The story is pretty good. I liked the parts about Ayvinx training the Fendan military and the attack when it happens. There is a traitor as well, and the love story is ok, though the the conversation between Jula and Ayvinx, especially when they become intimate is really kind of silly. A lot of talk about it being the first time and how large he is and how he is going somewhere nobody else has been, etc.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Justine O’Keefe and Tristan James. This is the third book in the series I have listened to in a row, and I have really enjoyed these two narrators. Both are very good and are able to voice multiple characters very well, with each having an individual sounding voice.
