About this listen

There's a reason Western romance novels never go out of fashion. The cowboy is an iconic figure embodying the dichotomy of the fiercely independent, earthy alpha male juxtaposed with the male as a nurturer and protector.

Cowboys take care of their women in every possible way. Wild and wayward women are gentled by the scent of horse and cow and the sight of sun-kissed skin, the feel of work-hardened thighs and arms, and the sound of a deep-voiced Texas drawl. Contributors at the top of the Western romance genre, including Charlene Teglia, Randi Alexander, and Cat Johnson, have corralled here strong and memorable characters ranging from a rodeo star and a cop on horseback to a feisty female gunslinger. Traversing romantic settings from Montana, Texas, California, Mexico, and the Outback of Australia, the stories in Cowboy Lust are risky and risque, full of studs in spurs hot enough to send you to a vacation on a dude ranch!

Editorial reviews

Performer Annie Green deftly adapts from chapter to chapter in this diverse anthology, capturing tones as different as the lighthearted, flirty opener "Riding Double" by Cari Quinn and Anna Meadows's lyrical, dreamy prose in closer "She Don't Stay the Night". Editor Delilah Devlin has rustled up short stories as far-flung as the Australian outback and Mexico, from the cruel Old West of "Raney's Last Ride" to the hybrid car breakdown that leads to a city girl's rodeo fling in "Some Like It Dirty".

Whether the listener's in the mood for an aching romance between star-crossed lovers with a history or a spicy chance encounter with a ruggedly handsome stranger, they won't be disappointed by these cowboys and the heroines who unlock the soft side under their calloused hands and dusty boots.

Sexy Cowboys

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Could have been a bit hotter. I will not be buying vol 2

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

nope. I like the idea of short stories of this nature, but this reader killed what good parts there may have been.

What didn’t you like about Annie Green’s performance?

A bit too Southern and no good male voice qualities. I will not be buying anything more from this reader. Gads, at least try for a decent male voice. Shoot, all this breathy female high pitched voices are getting on my nerves. They are ruining a good sexy listen.

Was Cowboy Lust worth the listening time?

Nope

Any additional comments?

I am going to be cautious on D.D. readers. If the sample is not spot on, I am not going to take a chance. I have gotten burned 3 times now.

Good stories

If you like short stories and cowboys you will love these stories. I bought this book thinking it was just one story, but I enjoyed it. As with any book liked some more than others but all were good.
