The King Meets His Match

Margo, aka the Princess of Manhattan, worked for Alexander King after she graduated from Harvard. She was to find out all she could to hopefully save her father’s business that King was going to buy/takeover. King was a manwhore who thought he could get any woman he wanted. It is a wonder his d!ck didn’t fall off. They go to Las Vegas and there they meet Yamada, which is Alexander’s friend. I loved Yamada’s role in this book. He was so funny! Well, as it turns out, Margo could not resist Alexander’s touch so one thing led to another. What was funny is that they woke up married in Las Vegas and Yamada was at the wedding. I think he orchestrated the whole thing. They stayed married to fool King’s board into thinking they were happily married. Yamada seems to have a sixth sense on how Alexander and Margo really felt about each other. King’s ex makes an appearance and decides she wants him back after leaving him for another man. This is why King is so cold and closed off his heart. Margo eventually takes care of that problem. This was a really good book that moved along at a great pace.

I feel this book would most definitely benefit from and male and female narrator. While Audra Cook did a great job with Margo’s voice, she lacked when it came to Alexander’s voice. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Enemies to Lovers!

Alexander King always gets his way. As part of a deal to purchase Dan Buchanon's company, he employs Buchanon's daughter Margo. And what better job to give her but his assistant? Keep your enemies close! Both used to getting what they want, these two have a competitiveness creating sparks in the office. But is that the only place? Their constant banter is like foreplay, it's smart and sexy and keeps them both on their game. When they go to Vegas to meet King's friend, Yamada, Margo sees an opportunity to try and keep her dad's company. But will it work? That crazy city along with their crazy friend results in a partnership that changes their lives. From that point on, little by little the Naughty King and the Feisty Princess learn about loyalty, love and trust. Michelle A Valentine crafted this Manhattan fairytale with determination, spunk, compassion and humor! From the beginning, it's easy to see where the story will end, but the journey to get there is so much fun. I love the addition of Yamada, his character is larger than life, and when he is around, you know things are going to happen and he will make you laugh! While he is a crazy character, his intuitiveness is spot on and he makes things happen. With a few twists and unexpected turns this story is one that will make your heart race and fill with love.

Narrated by the wonderful Audra Cook, she brings each character to life. Well paced and full of the attitude and sass these characters have, Cook makes the listen enjoyable.

Naughty King VS Fiesty Princess Of Manhattan!

Alexander King is a twat-waffle. Margo Buchanan is tenacious. In the beginning this romance felt a bit cliché, but got better as it went on. I did feel the tale was missing something as it lacked depth. Narator Audra Cook's performance of Margo Buchanan was spot on. I got the impression that Margo was a beautiful, canny and confident female. However, I found it difficult to listen to Alexander as I didn't enjoy the tone of his voice. It was not sexy at all, almost rough. I've listened to other female narators that do a great sexy confident male voice. I really couldn't connect with the character's as Alexander's voice annoyed me too much. Supporting character Yamada, a Japanese character who spoke & referred himself in the third person was a bit much & over the top. Again, his tone didn't reflect a Japanese voice over . I think if I read this rather than listening to it I may have enjoyed it more.

Great Listen

Michelle A Valentine is a new author to me, while I have listened to enjoyed Audra Cook perform before. I was immediately pulled into this book from the very beginning. The premise of sabotage to gain satisfaction appealed to me. Like all good plans, they are meant to be broken. The characters in this book had great chemistry after they got over their jabs to the other one. I really enjoyed how Audra Cook was able to perform distinguished character voices. I will listen to more books by this author and narrator. This book is a standalone listen.

Sexy Romance with Excellent Narration

I liked this sexy romance with excellent narration.
The drama was a bit on the high side for me personally, but I still enjoyed this Audio Book a lot.
I liked the twist in the story, after about 1 third in. (I don’t want to spoil it for you)
It changed up the dynamic between the 2 main characters.
King’s friend Yamada provides a welcome lighthearted break from the drama, which I loved.

The story is told from the point of view of Margo and Alexander.
The narrator (female) does a great job of narrating the male part, I totally believed I was listening to a man (and that’s so important to feel fully immersed in the story)
She does a very good job on the female part too, but to do a convincing ‘opposite sex voice’ is not easy and deserves a special mentioning.

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.
