Publisher's summary

I just moved in with my billionaire best friend (and secret crush), Oliver Humphries.

He’s the all-star. The jock. The golden boy.

And I’m no match.

I’m the nerdy, frizzy-haired, not-so-skinny friend.

The moment I met him at 14, I was in L-O-V-E.

I’m under no illusion I stand a chance.

Living with him?

Not a problem.

In fact, it’s a brilliant idea. I’m good at hiding my feelings.

Until I play “Truth or Dare” with him.

Oh, good grief!

Did I just tell him I want him to be my first?

A sexy friends-to-lovers romance from USA Today best-selling author Jolie Day! Come see what happens when the alpha male and the geeky girl next door collide. Literally. Stand-alone romance, no cliff-hanger. Jolie Day is team HEA.

I didn't like the female narration!

The story was ok. In some places it seemed immature. It had an opportunity to be so much better.

I liked it

The story was very good but the ending needed to be more thought, more elaboration.

Oliver & Laney

This is a “new to me” author. I purchased this book because the blurb was enticing and I love a good friends-to-lovers trope! My feelings the first 50%ish of the book: The relationship between Laney and Oliver felt strained from the outset and the only reason you knew they were BFFs was because they told you so over and over. Oliver was this clueless man whore, often self-centered and honestly, not very likable to me. Lanie lacked confidence and a backbone. She was painfully introverted and so utterly consumed with work that she didn’t allow herself to have a good time for the most part. You could see little glimpses of who she could be if she would just let go a little. The last 50%: Things finally started picking up and Laney gained some much needed confidence. The MCs continued lying to themselves and each other about what they really were/wanted to be. Same ole song and dance. However, the last leg of the story was considerably more enjoyable as these two finally opened up and fought for what they really wanted - EACH OTHER! Great narration. Good story.

Not trading this one in. Cute story line. Could have gone deeper but overall I enjoyed the book.

Weird pronunciation of the word thanks

I almost listened to it again just to go back and count how many times the female narrator said “thanks.” Her pronunciation was odd. She pronounces the “th” as in “the” so it sounds hard instead of a soft “th.” And it was slightly annoying because of how many times she said it. I usually never notice stuff like this with audiobooks, but after a while it really bothered me. Story was good though.
