About this listen

This is a super-plus-length audiobook.

One girl who was supposed to be a nun. Two hot warriors constantly at odds with each other. Both of them want her. But neither one can have her alone. Because with these Kindred, it takes two....

How does a girl who's about to take her vows as a nun wind up with two hot warriors to pick from?

That's Becca Malone's problem. After eating a piece of bonding fruit cake, she wound up with Far and Truth, Kindred warriors who were separated at birth and never formed a proper bond. Because Far and Truth hate each other, Becca feels free to choose between them...until the three of them fall into a vision of unspeakable terror...a vision that is about to come true if Far and Truth don't quickly form a bond. Guess who has to be the bridge between them?

Becca is scared to death she's going to wind up bonded for life, and Far and Truth aren't too thrilled about the prospect of sharing her. But when the ominous vision sends them on a trip to a rogue planet where the inhabitants live out their lives in a strange, mental Internet called the Mindscape, they have no choice but to come together in the most intimate way possible.

Becca comes to realize she can't choose between the sweet and gentle Far and the intense and passionate Truth. But how can she be with both of them at once when the two warriors have sworn to be forever...divided?

Love the storyline but….

While I loved the storyline , the whispering drove me crazy. Worth a listen if you can ignore the whispering.

Hot!

There are lots of sexy moment in this story and it was very hot. What happens when twin kindred are separated at birth and their bond does not form correctly. Some sexy moments with their lady. If you have read this far in the story you know that Evangeline Anderson does not hold back in the bedroom department. And of course the narrator has a very smexy voice, I don’t mind listening to him at all.

The Whispering!!

If you want to be put to sleep this is the book for you. I thoroughly enjoyed Found, book 4 of the series. The female narrator was wonderful. This guy isn't bad per se, but I'm only on chapter 15 and I'm literally forcing myself to finish this behemoth of a novel. I love long novels. The longer the better, but this one is trying my patience. He talks so soft and low and then he whispers their thoughts and it drives me crazy.

Good story, rough narration

I struggled with this book. I like the Kindred storyline, but the narration annoyed me. William Martin does this breathy whisper thing with his voice when someone is having thoughts in their head....so distracting. In addition, his interpretation of some of the female characters voices, light, high pitch and breathy (think drunk girl at a frat party) was equally irritating. If you can make it past those things, the book will be good for you.

SKIP the Audio Version, BUY the Kindle Edition

Divided (Audiobook Version ONLY)

I need to start by saying that I have a VERY love/hate relationship with EA’s Kindred (and probably ALL of her) series. I can only take them in doses.

First and probably most important, whoever made the decision to record the audible version in the new style should be reprimanded if not fired. I’m working my way through this series again in audio format. And never have some of my biggest annoyances with it been so glaringly obvious. I couldn’t even make it through this audiobook because of all the WHISPERING.

I want SO badly for EA’s style to evolve but she is still using those same old tropes nearly 30 books into this series. YOU’RE A GOOD WRITER, SHOW IT!!

One of my biggest pet peeves has always been that “little voice whispering” things to all the characters. I consider this blatant telling and not showing and to have a narrator LITERALLY whispering all those things that were whispered in a character’s mind was so off putting I couldn’t even finish this audiobook.

At first I changed my jump forward/back speed to only 10 seconds so I could just skip those parts because I do love EA’s imaginative stories, but some of those inner monologue moments were 30, 40 or more seconds or were broken up by a few seconds of action. Ultimately, it just became a tedious listen.

Another one of my biggest issues with this series is that she writes mostly about supposedly BBW. Let me stop anyone that thinks I’m fat shaming. I don’t have a problem with stories about BBW.

My issue with EA’s stories about them is that although she tries to make (many of) them out to be confident women, there’re too many insecurities contradicting this. (Side note* I also hate how NON-badass all her heroines are. Sure, many [most] of them can be a little [too] strong-willed [to the point of TSTL] for their own good, but I have yet to read about one that was truly strong in her own right.)

That said, I am close to and even related to several big girls who OWN it. They consider themselves as bad a bitch as I consider myself. I want to see THAT BBW from EA. She has yet to show it, and no, I don’t consider Kat that chick-at least not from her story. She is just a busybody to me who happens to be around at the right time and place in most of these stories.

And similarly, why are so many of these women described as BBW (like Kat is supposed to be a size 18, I think) but then they put women who are clearly not big on the cover. Again, if you’re going to claim it, then OWN it! Why not get a plus sized model to pose for some of these covers? Just saying.

Don’t take my rant to mean I disliked it. On the contrary, I love when an author can brilliantly insert some nuance into a story. Even though reverse harem/mFm stories are probably my least favorite genre of romance, I love how EA forced the characters (especially True-a disconnected Twin Kindred) to have to work together (no spoilers-I won’t say HOW or why they were forced to work together, but if you’ve read a single one of EA’s stories, you have a pretty good idea of exactly my meaning).

For this particular story, I would absolutely pass on the audio version and just buy the book and read it when you have the time. Admittedly, while I read the entire series in order, I have skipped around purchasing the audiobooks since their releases have been so sporadic. I think I have 1, 2, 4-7 and 10.

I didn’t much care for the original narrator (books 1-3). She sounded too old/old fashiony for my taste. I really liked the narrator for book 4. There was a part in which one of the characters sang a lullaby and she actually SANG that part. A first in any audiobook I’ve listened to, and her voice was really pretty! She was a pretty good reader too! Not sure why they didn’t stick with her.

After that came William Martin & McKenzie Cartwright. They’re both okay. I like his voice despite the (Canadian-maybe?) accent. It’s very deep and soothing. No offense to any Canadians out there! It’s just not the sexiest (imo) accent... MC is average as well. I’ve listened to her read for some other series. Nothing to write home about, but no complaints either.

For Divided (which is narrated by WM alone), it was just TOO slow. The parts I listened to, I listened at 1.25-1.5 speed-I mean there’s a difference between soothing and lulling to sleep.

I knew I had reached my limit when I realized that I had put this audiobook aside multiple times and had started and completed 4 other books before I could get through this one! That whispering was just too much. I couldn’t take it anymore. If it he had simply lowered his voice on those parts I think I could have tolerated that little voice but every time he started whispering, it completely pulled me out of the story.

To top it all off, he didn’t just whisper when that “little voice” whispered, he also whispered all characters’ thoughts and pretty much anything that was italicized in the written format.

Whoever made the decision to read it this way, SHAME ON YOU!!! *wags finger*

If it continues on this way, I will have to stick with the kindle books only and bypass the audio versions.

I do not recommend this audiobook. Text to speech is less annoying and more palatable than this one. I will be returning for a refund.

Excellent Story

I loved this book. It was filled with action, drama, passion and steamy love-making. It took a while to get used to the narrator’s voice, but once I did, found the voice to be delightful, he was able to assign a different voice to each character. There were quite a few hilarious parts that made me laugh out loud; also a part of the story made me cry. The author has a wild and vivid imagination. On to the next book!

psst....

The whispering is annoying . It is supposed to be internal thoughts, but there is way too much of it. Great story though.
