About this listen

K is a fourth level Paladin and a servant of Purity - the holy nothingness she has been taught to revere and aspire to from childhood. Born on a sexless world from an artificial womb, K was fitted with a black mesh skinsuit at the tender age of nine. The suit nourishes and defends her from enemies and serves as her main weapon in the holy war her people have declared on the rest of the universe. It also eradicates even the slightest traces of emotion. Leading her purge squad in a never-ending mission to rid the universe of the Impure, K is accustomed to killing or enslaving everyone she meets.

That is, until she meets Boone.

Boone is a doctor and geneticist from Colossus - a heavy G world which has rendered the people who inhabited it larger and stronger than regular humans. He's more than happy to stay on his own planet and do research - until his little sister is taken by Purists and delivered to the pshalite mines. Frantic to rescue her, he hatches a desperate plot - capture a Paladin and use the enemy pawn to gain access to where his sister is being held. K falls into his net - but not without a fight. When she is wounded in the battle, Boone is forced to cut off her skinsuit in order to save her life.

Now, removed from her comforting routine and separated from the parasitic suit, K is beginning to change. Her body is blossoming and her mind is opening. For the first time in her life she can feel...whether she wants to or not. In order to survive in her new environment she has to cooperate with Boone.

However, she soon finds that it isn't just her body he holds prisoner...but also her heart.

Great steamy story line, good narration

I read the book first and then listened to the audiobook at a later date. I love the storyline and the audiobook is very good. The characters are well developed and very likable. Boone is a very patient and tender hero. K is a strong heroine with vulnerabilities, but she doesn't come across as whiny. The storyline progresses naturally and is fast paced enough to grab and keep your attention throughout the book. I generally prefer female narrations as there is more range in their voices; however, William Martin was very easy to listen to. The only reason I rated the performance a 4/5 is because there were some times the narrations was too soft-spoken and I had to adjust the volume back and forth to hear everything. There were also times that it was hard to differentiate the characters by voice as there wasn't a large range in his voice which was confusing for a few moments in the book. His Boone-voice is very sexy and gruff. Overall, the book is another successful steamy romance with a lot of action/adventure by Evangeline Anderson and I would definitely purchase further books/audiobooks by this author and would listen to William Martin again. I really hope that there will be a sequel to this book!

Awesome

I disliked it at first, The book seemed kind of odd It kind of jumped in the middle of things but it started to make sense A couple of chapters into it. I liked that love conquers all and exciting hurdles that the main characters have to overcome to get to that point. All in all I would recommend it to all my friends it's a good read.

A very sexy sci-fi romance.

Evangeline Anderson does it again, a super sexy adventure. Finally, a heroine that was not meek, which is one of Evangeline’s Andersons flaws that she puts into the heroines. I liked both Boone and K and their adventure was unique, and I look forward to more stories from this series, hopefully more stories from the Tainted. The world building was very clear to me and I feel there is more potential in future stories. Narrator is sexy, and I always appreciate that in a romance.

Another Hit From Evangeline Anderdon

What did you love best about Purity?

I loved the characters. K was innocent, cute, and funny. Boone was a great person and had a lot of patience to deal with K.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved how strong K was throughout the whole book. I loved that she was determine and strong. I love when writers make the H strong and able to strand on her. I loved that she was able to save to save Boone's life even without her suit. I loved that she was innocent and we got to see her experience new emotions and feelings. I love that the hero was able to teach her new things. He was not emotional. I also loved that it was not a love triangle. This was a book about a man falling in love with a strong female and a female falling in loved for the first time. We got to read all about her first times.

Have you listened to any of William Martin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No this was the first time I listen to William Martin' s book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I was not a able to read it in one sitting. I only read at night and this book was great for night time light reading.

Absolutely Entertainng!

Where does Purity rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top ten, definitely!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Loki was my favorite character. He's colorful and a lot of fun.

Have you listened to any of William Martin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I loved this one.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!! I wish I could have found a way to listen to it all on one setting.

Any additional comments?

I loved the storyline and the narrator. The narrator had the voices down perfectly. I could tell exactly who was speaking by listening to his voices. The characters were interesting and actually confronted problems that were not the norm. LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

Good but slow start

Decent story line but if you're looking for a fun, smutty, romance book full of sex this isn't that type of book ;-)
Overall a good read though.

MORE PLEASE!!! Great Story from start to finish!

Where does Purity rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have to say Purity is right at the top of my list of books. I will be listening to it again I like it so much. I can't wait until the next installment is released in this series. Evangeline Anderson is one wicked writer. I am not sure how she comes up with plots so different and amazing in each of her books. Everyone should experience her books, stories, writings at least once. Her stories are like potato chips you just can't listen to one!!

What did you like best about this story?

I love that K didn't know anything about loving someone in any way! True fans of Evangeline Anderson's books know she can put some heat in her books, but in a way that it enhances the story, not take away from it. Some writers of this genre tend to put to much sex between the main characters, but in this story I was amazed how much I like the anticipation Evangeline created between Boone and K! I like everything about this plot, because I didn't need the constant remember of sex to keep me interested. I wanted to know from chapter to chapter how Boone, Mom, K, Lokey and the rest were going to interact among each other. A brilliant plot!

Which character – as performed by William Martin – was your favorite?

First William Martin was AMAZING! I hope Evangeline uses him for this series and other books in the future. His voice control, pitch, infliction, along with his different voices for each character was on point. I loved Boone, because even though he was a Alpha male, he wasn't an A-hole so to speak. He was very considered of not only K, but all he considered family/friend. Lokey (not sure of the spelling/the pilot) was so funny at time I would laugh out loud causing my family to look at me like I had loss my mind. Also, his ability to create a woman's voice was very good. A great Narrator!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

How to love a Giant!

Any additional comments?

Purity is a great start to Evangeline's pure and tainted series. Each character was so well developed in this book I can't wait to see what happens to them especially the leader of the tainted crew Hessler (not sure of the spelling). He needs to be touched! I can't wait to see who is next, who ever it is I hope William Martin continue to narrate this series. GREAT book well worth the credit/money!

Why do I listen to people...

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I'm so disappointed, again, that other people's view of quality doesn't reflect my own. I know that's selfish but credits are expensive and the purpose of the ratings is to help listener's make good buying choices. This was not a good buying choice. The story had potential but dragged on and on for, seemingly, no other reason than to annoy me.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I think I'm done with this genre after this. I don't know what I'll listen to next. Maybe I'll go back to Jacqueline Carey. At least she can world and character build.

Which character – as performed by William Martin – was your favorite?

He was good but what he had to work with was crap. I can't say which was favorite since the dialog was so bad.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Absolutely not unless they brought in someone to rewrite.

Any additional comments?

Nope!

"Darlin'" this story is just OK.

Interesting take on human evolution on other planets. "Purist" notion is nothing new. Neither is religious extremism. I enjoyed parts of the plot more than others. However, if I NEVER hear "darlin", "anyway", "for purity's sake!" again, it would be too soon! I agree with previous reviewers - this book would have greatly benefited from the dual narration. This is my first time listening to William Martin and he did a good job. But, the dual narration would have uplifted the story.
I haven't been able to find the second book. While there was no cliffhanger, the author dropped enough hints for future books in abundance.

Written Perfectly!!

I will let it be known that this story has graphic sexual content and you should be age appropriate to read or listen to this story.

I really enjoyed this story by Evangeline Anderson. I won't lie either and I was worried it would be filled with too much sex content but this story didn't. I think it had one sex scene in the entire story and I thought it was a perfect story to listen to. This story is more sci-fi than anything really. I don't want to spoil it so I'm not one to give details away in any review. You just have to read or listen to it for yourself to understand just how good this authors writing is. This story shows what a vivid imagination this author has. This you must discover for yourself.

I think William Martin did a really good job with the narration of this story. I think there were some parts that could've been a little better but as I listened on it just came together. I had no trouble at all distinguishing accents and I was able to identify each and every character who spoke throughout this story. I would listen to this narrator again. Overall, a perfect 5 star rating from me!
