About this listen

A former soccer player, stripper, and model, legendary party-boy Patrick Halloran finally gets his big break starring in the summer blockbuster. But when an accident leaves him changed forever, he hides away in his secluded Montana ranch. Only his new housekeeper is allowed inside - with one rule: She's not allowed to see him. But Pat sees her, and she's the most stunning woman he's ever laid eyes on. Even her voice is beautiful. Still, Pat can't allow himself to get close to anyone. Not without a fight at least....

Magdalena "Lena" Martel is a long way from Queens, New York. After a rough patch, the aspiring artist is working her way through college - even if it means keeping house for a man whose gruff voice she can only hear through a closed door. Still, Lena senses Pat's got a good heart, maybe even a lovable one. She's intrigued - until his anger sends her running into the freezing woods. Now, Pat will have to find her - and when he does, he may have found the one woman who can thaw his heart - not to mention the rest of him. But can their new bond survive the paparazzi - and their personal demons?

I loved this story!

The character development was perfect, and the plot was amazing. While I was listening to this story there came a time when I thought the story was coming to an end, then I checked to see how much time remained in the book, and I still had 2h 53m left (listening at 1.7 speed). This was a pleasant surprise, because it’s one of those stories you don’t want to end. I did like the ending though. It named dropped a lot of new characters, and I was like who are these people, but it was sweet nonetheless. This story was meaningful and very easy for me to imagine as a reader. On top of all that, the narration was fantastic! The only thing I didn’t love about the narration was how Carmen Vine pronounced ‘water’ haha. Teddy Hamilton killed it, as always. Overall, I would highly recommend giving this book a listen. I’d give it like a 3.5-4/5 on the spice, spicy but could be spicier.

Good listen

Kept coming back to this book but couldn’t get into it when I first joined Audible. Now that I’m in love with Hamilton’s voice, I finally listened 😂. I liked the diversity in the book, it was written very well and not cringy like some other books that try to do it.
Hamilton should’ve read the steamy scenes tho. The female performer did very well but did sound robotic sometimes- or maybe I just prefer Hamilton :).

Way off the tone of the first two books

“I also see the sadness in his eyes is so deep, I wonder if we’ll both drown in it
in the end, because it matches my own.”

Instead of a fun, sassy romance featuring a MMC entertainer, this was a long, angsty romance of two broken people slowly getting their lives back together. There’s a lot of names of people thrown down, where I feel like I’m supposed to know them, however I don’t recall them from the previous two books.
I do recall the men from the previous two books (Aiden and Fallon), and would have loved to hear more about them, but sadly they only tie in at the final hour.

Like book 1, I enjoyed Carmen Vine’s accents, but overall found her narration nasal.

More than the previous two books, I found the sex clunky; it was both crude and weirdly anatomical (again with words like “frenulum” … who talks about sex like that?).

I feel like a modern day beauty and the beast romance could be written with more action, fun, or sizzle. For instance, I preferred Jessica Clare’s Beauty and the Billionaire.
