About this listen

From author Jescie Hall comes this heart-wrenching tale of addiction and a transcendent love that fights despite adversity in this spin-off instant attraction romance.

Addiction is my weakness.

A cruel temptress that follows me wherever I go.

Slowly dragging me down until I drown.

Until she shows up.

Johanna.

My life preserver in this ocean of drugs and madness.

She's a total enigma, as chaotic as they come. A vixen who lives her life without limits.

But her demons are greater than mine, and they threaten to drown her right alongside me.

I need her as much as she needs me.

We can either hang on and save each other, or we can both sink into oblivion, letting our pasts, our memories, our addictions be the anchor that weighs us down.

Contains mature content, including heavy drug use, self-inflicted pain, trauma, and graphic sexual content.

Broken and Fixed!

Outstanding! Such a beautiful story of complete and utter struggle! The struggle within will always be the hardest to win. The character building was top notch you really get to know them inside and out!

WOW

Kid's Story filled with humor, love & pain - both emotional & physical. The way Jescie writes this story is AMAZING!!! I thought nothing would ever top That Sik Love - but I was wrong!! This Book gives a true glimpse into the life of an addict & the struggles. This is my #2 Favorite - TSL is still my #1💙

5 Stars Across the Board

Jescie has an untouchable talent with how she tells stories. While Kid has heavy content throughout, the ending to Kid and Han’s story is absolutely beautiful. Through the darkness, they found the light ❤️

Joe’s performance was absolutely amazing! This is probably one of his top 5 (in my opinion). Going from energetic, fast-paced Kid to highly emotional takes such talent and Joe brought everything he had to help tell this story.

CJ did phenomenal as Han. You could feel all the emotions and turmoil coming from Han’s character through CJ’s performance.

Loved experiencing this story through audio. Truly one of the best!

Incredible

This book tore my heart out. Joe Arden’s performance was his best yet. He became Kid. The emotions were so raw. My favorite audiobook yet.

Unconditional intense Love

Jescie Hall writes so beautifully and she is my favorite author. Her words are true, beautiful and intense. The narrators did such an amazing job at portraying the feelings that Jescie had meant to convey throughout this book. Joe Arden, a master of his art, once again nails the emotional intensity and I am blown away by CJ Bloom’s ability to meet Joe with the same intensity. This is my first listen of CJ Bloom and I am a forever fan!
Love is love. There is no rule to say that you can only love someone if you’re not broken. You can! Sometimes, it takes the other person to help let that love bloom and the characters in Kid show just that. What a beautiful and emotional journey Kid and Han went through!
I gave this 5 stars across the board. It’s beautiful, eye opening, and emotional. Although this book is fiction, the events in this book unfortunately happen in everyday real life. Remember, you matter and deserve to be loved.

Infinity stars!!

Jescie Hall does it again! Kid was such a heavy, emotional read but I absolutely loved it! Jescie’s writing is just so beautiful, you can’t help but be immersed in these characters and their world. Can’t count how many times my eyes welled up with tears and I had to swallow down the emotions this book brought out of me.

This is a spin off from the book 𝑯𝒂𝒘𝒌𝒆 so I def recommend reading that first so you get an outsider’s perspective of Kid before jumping inside the complexity of his mind. He’s such a goofy character and the things that come out of his mouth are hilarious.

Kid & Han are both troubled people who are suffering internal battles and they each cope in different ways. Kid uses drugs to stay numb to it all while being the brightest person in the room. Han is closed off and runs from it all when it becomes too much for her.
I normally hate insta-loves/insta-obsession but this one just felt right… like their souls were one and the same.

This story is all one POV until the last few chapters. This audiobook is done in duet narration which I just love that they do it that way even with it being a single POV for most of the book.
Joe Arden blew me away with his narration! I loved him in 𝑯𝒂𝒘𝒌𝒆 but 𝑲𝒊𝒅 was such a phenomenal performance! From the funny high as a kite scenes, to the raw, emotional dialogues, his voice acting was incredible. I’ll forever be amazed at his talent.
CJ Bloom’s performance as the dark, carefree woman that is Han was amazing! I felt her guilt, emotion and pain. One of my favorite female narrators!

Kid - Jescie Hall did it again

Profound. Real. Emotional. Difficult. Needed. Deep
We are all book people. Some of us say who we are by the titles on our shelves. This is one of those titles, IYKYK.
Kai is one of those people we all know. And if you don’t, you’re lucky. The one who has life in his corner, he just doesn’t how to navigate it. You want to love him well. But you can’t.

Han is just as sick, but her cure is different. Until they get to that point where putting their pieces together, is that last dose they need to complete themselves.

Kid: “she’s imperative for my existence it’s as simple and complicated as that”

Jescie is a fabulous writer about real shit. No bullshit, she puts it’s out there raw. And deliberate. You get a plot that makes sense. A story you not only want to hear but need to hear it like you need air.
Narrators, phenomenal performances. Joe and CJ brought this to life where you’d swear you were watching a movie. They both put so much of themselves into this story, you could feel it.

SPECTACULAR BOOK, AMAZING NARRATION!

Read this book immediately after Hawke on KU, then immediately bought both paperbacks. Then audiobook were released with Joe Arden. I pre-ordered both, listened to both immediately. THAT'S how good these books are! ❤️
