Publisher's summary

In Made for Love, Fr. Michael Schmitz presents the Catholic teachings on same-sex attraction and same-sex "sexual" relations.

He begins by giving background information regarding the different worldviews of the human person, the philosophical ideas of nature and purpose, the differences between objective and subjective truth, the principal of noncontradiction, and the fallen human nature that resulted from the original sin.

He then discusses, in great detail, the nature and ends of human sexuality and the nature of true love, while, in a compassionate and nonjudgmental way, explaining the flawed nature of same-sex "sexual" relations.

While this audiobook is intended primarily for those who have same-sex attraction and their family and friends, its presentation of the compassionate truth of Catholic teaching on same-sex attraction will be of great benefit to everyone in today's society.

Intelligent, thoughtful, and well presented

The synopsis explains this content better than I can. I would note that the presentation goes much deeper than, "Love the sinner, not the sin." I would also note that it is more about all sexual moral teaching than anything. Fr. Mike does here what he does with all of his content: He takes serious and complicated matters and makes them accessible without dumbing them down.

I would recommend this to anyone interested in moral teaching or understanding what Catholics and Christians are called to believe. It is as much a mirror for a heterosexual person as it is a lens to empathy same sex attracted people.

The Loving Response

Loved this book so much I had to get both the digital and physical copies. It does such a fantastic job of not only defining the teaching of God on the subject of SSA (and any/all attractions), it does it with compassion and caring.

Fr Mike does a wonderful job in showing us the loving response to those who experience SSA I will use this book as a resource whenever the subject comes up

catholic teachings from an informed caring soul

Excellent. Loads of compassion but no compromise. Well reasoned all the way through the book. Many bible passages explained with love and care, not just do's and don'ts. God and Christ centered. The truth spoken in love... challenging.

Trust God with your self

Great, good for anyone interested in this issue. Gets into the issue of what we are, maybe more important than “who”- which already relies on definitions. My take is to get away from definitions and trust God. Recommends that our first identity is to be found in God. Makes philosophical arguments that how it all works out in reality, and truth, is actually good. Needed to hear that.

We are made to Love

I love Father Mike Schmitz. He has such great straight-to-the-point teachings. This book truly helped me understand how the Church views same-sex attraction. It also showed me how to love my brothers and sisters in Christ even more.
