About this listen

When Janelle Prescott is thrown from her car as it careens off a slippery road, she expects to wake up in a hospital. Instead, to her utter disbelief, she wakes up in a jail cell that looks like something from an old Western movie set. It is there, hurt and alone, with no idea what happened or how she will get back home, that Janelle first meets Aaron Jackson. As she regains her wits, however, Janelle realizes something is terribly amiss, and her worst fears are confirmed when she learns Aaron is the marshal of Cheyenne County, Wyoming...and the year is 1878.

When an injured, apparently addle-headed woman falls into his lap, Aaron takes it upon himself to keep her safe and nurse her back to health. Truth be told, he is instantly attracted to her despite her sharp tongue and her bizarre story - a story he is quickly forced by the evidence to accept as genuine. After Aaron takes her under his wing and into his family’s home, the two clash frequently, but Aaron is more than ready to lay down the law...even if that means a good, hard bare-bottom spanking for this feisty brat from another era.

Having little choice, Janelle must learn how to live as a woman in 1878, including submitting to the firm-handed marshal who, in spite of everything, seems to have laid claim to her heart.

Publisher’s note: Marshal’s Law is an erotic romance novel that contains graphic sexual scenes and spankings, including domestic discipline in a historical setting. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this audiobook.

Time Travel Story

This was my first Maddie Taylor's book. This is a time travel story and the first book in the Jackson Brothers Series. I like two main characters, Aaron and Janelle, and I also like the other characters. The story is well written, with an interesting plot and funny scenes, but the pace is a little slow. There are also a lot of spanking scenes, maybe too much. Despite that, overall, I enjoyed my listening. I loved the Epilogue! Gideon Welles has a great voice that fits this story. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED

This story was certainly a surprise for me. I had a range of feelings about the subject matter. Being a headstrong adult, thrown back into the Old West, would be harrowing. Trying to hold onto your independence would be difficult, at best. I understand all of this. But my first reaction to the heavy-handedness of Aaron was the same as Janelle's. I vascillated between Aaron's point and Janelle's throughout the story. Finally, I accepted how important the lessons were for Janelle in that time. This novel certainly gives a different perspective to being a woman in this time period.

The narrator, Gideon Welles is superb! He has this delicious baritone that just makes me melt. And he has this country drawl that is just subtle enough to curl my toes. He is the absolute perfect voice for Aaron. I will definitely be looking into other books he has narrated.

Good With a Caveat

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story would have gotten a five-star rating if not for the constant spanking and then the justification for the spanking. A lady travels from 2013 to the 1800s and meets the Marshall. They have instant chemistry but the story twists from there then turns in another direction which makes for a great story. The spanking of a grown woman who does not follow rules that she knows nothing about did not strike me as right. Then she gets lost and more spanking after a while she is told that she likes it for sexual purposes. here is a great story in between the sex and spankings. I could have enjoyed just the story and it would have been a five-star story. The narrator was great. The humor and concept were excellent. The ending outstanding.

Original western time travel.

I had read Maddie Taylor’s Marshal’s Law when it first came out and loved Janelle and Aaron as a couple, their chemistry is amazing. I was curious to see what Gideon Welles’ narration would add to the mix. He brought an already really interesting believable plot to the next level. I enjoyed listening to his voice and the nuances it added to the characters. Time travels have been popular for a long time now, the times and mores being compared. I thought Janelle’s being a nurse was inspired showing the very real impact time has had on medicine for the average person’s day to day life. I thought the secondary characters were engaging and added extra depth to the story.
I was fortunate to receive a copy of this audio.

Western with a trust!

Janelle time travels back to 1878 and goes back to a time when women have few rights. Aaron guides her on this journey. This will lead to rebellion, sassy banter, confusion, terrifying moments, family love, steamy love, reality checks, bare bottom spankings, and a lot of action.

Gideon Welles is an excellent storyteller. I felt like I was listening to a duet narration instead of a single narrator. He really brought out Aaron's dominant yet caring side and Janelle's sassy yet determined side. I could listen to him all day long.

I asked to receive this Audible book and volunteered to write an honest review. Maddie Taylor has written a powerful western that shows us what life was a like in 1878, well, except for the time travel. She has filled it with family times, bad guys and girls, adventure, love, and several twists and turns. Gideon Welles makes it a listening experience that you don't want to miss. I highly recommend this Audible book!

Too much spanking...

The story was good, but unoriginal. Spanking can be hot in a novel but the use of it in this book is excessive. If you can get past all that, a pretty good read.

Marshal’s Law

I have never read/listened Maddie Taylor before. I have listened to Gideon Welles as a duo before. Never the only narrator and I loved him. I had a hard time in the beginning of this book. I never knew there was such a thing as punishment spanking for a spouse. I kind of felt like Janelle felt. I had all the same feels as she did when she did. I’m glad I stuck it out. I also am a time travel romance junkie so that part of the book was top rate! Gotta love smart female heroins.

excellent story line

I've never read a romance novel, EVER. Medical studies, Instructional books, doomsday and social theory are my favorites. Historical fiction is also a favorite of mine. I did take a particular interest in the stories of 1800's medicine, the history of Polio and The Abernathy Boys. Maybe the old west is an attraction of mine. I did marry a cowboy, after all. It makes sense that I would like this book. My beliefs that feminism has destroyed the role of men and the family unit probably gave me a great sense of justice from this story line. My experience as a submissive, and understanding what that means in, as well as out of, the bedroom, had me feeling this book was extremely romantic. It does an excellent job of explaining the roles of men and women in those relationships. It may even be a great book to do a study on for college students. All this nonsense about feminism, why not study the opposite lifestyle and how it can be a positive thing? (There's the theorist in me.) I half expected it to be a cheesy story line and full of tactless intimacy. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the story line, the accuracy of the time period, the passionate romance, the steamy moments, and the emotional rollercoaster which ended in a tearful, happy ending. I think I have found a new love in literature as a result of my desire to explore new genres. Stunned I'm saying this, but, I can't wait to read another Maddie Taylor book.

Nice and Sexy!

I love the time travel aspect of this book. This story tells of a modern day woman (2013) who wakes up in a jail cell in Laramie, WY (1878) after a car accident. This story engages all of your emotions. I found myself laughing, tearing up and becoming hot and bothered during the sex scenes. The plot and characters have a continuous flow. The narration was good and kept you entertained. The author did a great job with this story! This was my first book by this author and I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
