About this listen

Laurel Scanlon has the gift of sight, an ability passed down to the eldest daughter of each generation. It is this gift - or curse, perhaps - drove her own mother mad and has left Laurel unwilling to trust in love...except in her dreams.

Anxious for a new beginning, she decides to retreat to Mimosa Grove, an old estate outside Bayou Jean, Louisiana. Mimosa Grove belongs to Laurel now, bequeathed by her maternal grandmother. Laurel feels the history and tragedy here, and amidst primeval beauty she senses something...unfinished. Folks here know about her grandmother’s gift and treat Laurel with the same reverence - especially when she is able to help the police find a missing girl. It is then that she sees Justin Bouvier - stranger, soul mate, the man who haunts her dreams.

But there is danger here in Mimosa Grove, not from the restless past, but from the deadly present. Laurel must be willing to trust her gift, her love for Justin and, most of all, herself, to stop tragedy and history from repeating themselves.

the narrator really brought the story to life. The story itself was charming with good death and something different for the love story. I actually thought about listening to this book again

great performance!

I was delighted with this storyline and always have enjoyed this particular narrator. You know an audio book is great when you can't make yourself stop listening, even to sleep!

Wonderful as always!

I’ve already read this book a few times so I was excited when I saw it was available here, but the narrator’s accent is so disappointing. It just sounds so generic and they didn’t even attempt the French.

Abysmal Cajun accent

This is a haunting story of clairvoyance, romance, and espionage. After inheriting her grandmother’s Louisiana estate, Laurel Scanlon is anxious to leave her distant father’s Washington, DC residence to begin a new life in Cajun country. Laurel not only inherited her grandmother’s property, but also her gift of extrasensory visions. Unlike her mocking father, Laurel is welcomed by the residents of Bayou Jean, Louisiana who are grateful that the granddaughter of Marcella Campion will continue the tradition of psychic protection. In this new location, Laurel’s gifts of sight are heightened as she immediately saves a baby’s life and finally meets the sensuous man who has passionately inhabited her dreams. This edge of your seat thriller is heightened when Laurel becomes the target of danger while she desperately tries to use her powers to save the life of one closest to her.

I have read several of Sharon Sala’s (Dinah McCall) books and enjoy them tremendously. She knows how to integrate mystery and romance with believable characters.

Therese’s Plummer’s narration never disappoints as she moves seamlessly from character to character and makes you believe you are right there. Plummer, Dick Hill, and the late Anna Fields are three of the best narrators in the business.

Excellent audiobook!

If you could sum up Mimosa Grove in three words, what would they be?

Romantic paranormal mystery

What other book might you compare Mimosa Grove to and why?

Nora Roberts' Midnight Bayou. Same concept of haunted southern mansion with romance and suspense. Loved both books

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Loved It..

I really enjoyed this story (I love anything set in the south, so I was happy to find this book.) I haven’t heard this narrator before, but I will definitely be looking her up. She did an excellent job on all the voices, I got completely lost in the story and forgot it was just being read by one person.

Great story, and what a great narrator

Beautifully written and wonderfully narrated. I love the love story and supernatural mix. I found myself finding excuses to listen to it.

Love the supernatural aspect!

I am a huge fan of Therese Plummer. So when I saw she had a new audiobook decided to give it a go.

It was good. if anyone is familiar with Ms. Plummer's work would know that she usually has an excellent grasp of the material and characters and this was no exception!

I did find the climax of the book a tad predictable but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the overall story!
