About this listen

BOOK ONE OF THE GALLAGHERS OF ARDMORE TRILOGY

In Gallagher’s Pub, where the fire is burning low and the pints are waiting, #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts has a story to tell...

Determined to reevaluate her life, Jude Murray flees America to take refuge in Faerie Hill Cottage, immersing herself in the study of Irish folklore and discovering hope for the future of the magical past.

Finally back home in Ireland after years of traveling, Aidan Gallagher possesses an uncommon understanding of his country’s haunting myths. Although he’s devoted to managing the family pub, a hint of wildness still glints in his eyes - and in Jude, he sees a woman who can both soothe his heart and stir his blood. And he begins to share the legends of the land with her - while they create a passionate history of their own.

Jewels of the Sun

Although the narrator takes a little while to get used to before you know it you are sucked into the book just like you where in Ireland with them! Another wonderful story, can't wait to hear the next one!

Can read it over and over!

What made the experience of listening to Jewels of the Sun the most enjoyable?

I loved the story telling by the characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Jewels of the Sun?

The evening walk that Jude and Aden take to his special spot and the story he tells.

Have you listened to any of Patricia Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I believe this was my first time to hear her. I think her Irish accent was very well done. She did a fine job of emphasizing the individual parts. I felt like I was being drawn into the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I'm not sure what a tag line is.

Any additional comments?

Not too often do I read a book over shortly after I have finished it, but this one had a very special feeling to it. I will probably listen to it again soon.

Liked to Story

This was a good first in the series. I did like the series, I feel NR has had better ones but this was in no way her worst work. I did like the characters and the story line was good, the narrator not so much. Had a little trouble with listening to her seemingly "struggle" through.

Oh, the accent.

The story is fantastic, as usual with Nora Roberts, but the narrator's attempts at an Irish accent are painful for those who are familiar with the lilting cadence of the Irish.

Wish the Narration was better

What is not to live about fairies and magic! Only disappointment was the narration. Irish accent was badly done. Authentic would have been so much better.

Nora Roberts Series never disappoint...

Would you consider the audio edition of Jewels of the Sun to be better than the print version?

Yes, I absolutely loved listening to it - it grabs you right in the first few minutes.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters, the fact that it was a trilogy and getting to know them and the thrill that there were two more books so I could continue to look forward to the continuing story of these great characters.

What does Patricia Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She was a great reader, which is hard to find. She relates well to the story and accents, not a monotone reader, she had great feeling.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just couldn't stop listening - I didn't want to get out of the car it was a grabbing story - so enjoyable.
