Good story, yummy narrator

This series started off really strong, I loved the first books and then the last couple were a chore to get through. This one is really well done but there are parts that are super annoying.

Oliver is a really interesting character because we have known him from the beginning of the series and experienced his turn in the last book. I really liked that he had to struggle and we got a glimpse into what happens to a new vamp. It makes him more real than some of the other guys. I also applaud him for not buckling in the face of all his "friends" doubts.

Ursula is another great gal, she had been through so much and kept fighting. If I had been held for years and only knew pain from vampires it would be unlikely I would trust any, even ones who saved me, right away. Her strength and sass were engaging throughout.

The smexy steam was delicious. I loved the car scene. Oh girl, you will need a cold drink for that one! And when the narrator, Eric G. Dove, reads it to you in his delicious voice...goodbye panties! He has such a way with his words. I could listen to him for hours, oh wait, I did!

It is becoming a theme in the books that the hero has to fight his friend about the girl. None of them had an easy road to love, so it is annoying they forget how they felt in a similar situation. I also felt they vilified Oliver for his past addiction, way to make him feel like he can over come his mistakes. I was really PO'd at the whole scene where nobody would believe him about what he had and had not done. And then when he is proved innocent all he gets is a backhanded apology. Not cool at all!

I am eager for the next book, even though MM is not really my thing. I want to see Thomas get his HEA, especially after his heartbreak in the first book.

SEX/BLOOD/ LOVE....BUT CAN OLIVER CONTROL HIMSELF?

It's official - I'm an addict - for Tina Folsom's Scanguards and I don't ever want to find a cure as I'm happily hooked and now just waiting for my next fix. Anywhoo, back to the review:-

Poor Oliver was greatly tested in this latest exciting yet frustrating instalment and his problems begin when he stumbles across a beautiful, but bleeding, Ursula who's Asian-American and has just escaped from being held as a blood slave for addicted Vampires for years. He does the honourable thing and seeks help from his fellow Scanguards but everyone accuses him, distrusts him and argues with him and his loyalties are stretched to near breaking point as he soon falls for her but, as an ex addict, will Ursula's blood become his next drug of choice now or can he keep his fangs off her?

There's slavery, secrets, trust issues, suspense, action, twists and turns, humor, sex and, as we slowly see lust and passion turn into a touching tender love, all the Scanguards have to come to terms with the fact that little Oliver has now grown up and is capable of taking on the mission to take down the evil Vampire villain that's running the blood slave ring.

Worth a credit? Although this leaves you very frustrated and disappointed with the rest of the Scanguards Team members for their treatment of Oliver and Ursula's feelings, it's still a good (but not the best) addition to a great series... so yes very creditworthy. Up next in book 8 we finally get Thomas' Choice who we all know is Eddie.... so be prepared.

As always a good read....listen?

I love all of Tina's books I have yet to find one I dislike scanguarss is one I can read/listen to always intact i reread the entire series before an expected release ♡ I am however having to get used to Dove's narration. I had grown attached to Foley. But I am not disappointed. it's just like getting used to a recasting of a beloved character in a series ^~^ on to Thomas ^~^

Dear Tina, if you happen to see this when can we expect the rest of scangaurds to be narrated? (;

Great story!

In the last book we all saw that Oliver almost died and Quinn had to turn him in order to save him. This book picks up several months after the last. Oliver is still struggling with his hunger, and he feels like everyone has just about given up on him, that they have no faith in him. While out for a walk after having fed one night, he runs into a woman, or rather she runs into him. Ursula is a human woman who has been held captive for the last three years and has finally managed to escape. Now, Oliver has to struggle with his problems while trying to deal with the new hunger he has for this human woman.

Ursula and Oliver's story is a great addition to this series. Oliver has been around for several books now and I enjoyed getting to read a story that was mostly about him. We still get to see a few of the past characters, but it's mostly just O & U. The author did a great job bringing these two together and the narrator did a fantastic job bringing it to life. Well done to the both of them.

Oliver Surprised them All!!

Everyone thinks of Oliver as the newest vampire, but what they all forgot is that he has been with Scanguards for more then 3 years now. When he disobeys an order from Zane, everyone is ready to chew him out royally. But as it turns out he was right and if he had not, it would have cost him his future mate and caused Scanguards a great many more problems.

The one thing I didn't like about this book is that they changed narrators and in my opinion, Eric Dove does not due as good a job. It's strange to hear Sampson sound more Romanian then he did not the first 6 books. Also most of the other main characters don't sound right now either.

Over all this was another good story in this series.

Love, Action and a little Biting.

Oliver realized that being a vampire wasn’t as grand as he thought it would be but is also learning that even though they are vampires, they still make mistakes and have flaws. Ursula is a courageous, strong, human who has suffered for the last three years at the hands of vampires and decides to trust a vampire to save the others she left behind upon her escaping. It took me a minute to get into the book. It didn’t captivate me at first like the previous Scanguards books, but once it got going, it GOT GOOD. I appreciate the struggle Ursula had to come to deal with because of her feelings for Oliver, a vampire and the idea of what her vampire prisoners had done to her. Also the struggle Oliver is learning to deal with learning to handle his every growing hungry for blood. This book contains a good combination of action, suspense, hot, exotic love scenes, and some really tender moments. I’m a complete addict for this series.

Drug of choice.

I hunger for more Tina Folsom books. I love the characters in her books. Tina Folsom manages to create a new crisis in her books and make it believable without over doing the story line. I did feel like Oliver and Ursula were more like children than adults which a little more off putting. It might have been because everyone was treating them like children. But overall I was very happy with this book. I'm curious to see how she will write Thomas's book. Not a whole lot of gay romance stories out there. Next I will try some of Tina Folsom's other series. Narrator was good.

Maya's "Apology" to Oliver is a JOKE!

What would have made Oliver's Hunger better?

Spoilers
If the author had Actually stuck to the story line and the characters she has created.Oliver is a great guy they have known for 3 YEARS but after a measly 2 months as a Vampire nobody believes a thing he says! Maya should have been on her knees groveling for Oliver's forgiveness!!! I rooted for Zane all along but now he who has always drank from Humans can't even treat Oliver with respect. Sort of the pot calling the kettle black!

Has Oliver's Hunger turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but unfortunately it is a necessary "read" to continue the series. Just like JR Ward's book #6 Lover Enshrined of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series--I hated the way the author portrayed Phury but again it was a necessary read so you know what is going on. At least that book had some redeeming qualities unlike this one.Why do authors feel the need to ruin some of their best characters????

Which scene was your favorite?

I like Ursula & Oliver and their relationship is good thing but I don't have a favorite scene

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Ursula & Oliver's relationship. The ONLY other redeeming quality is the narrator!

Any additional comments?

Maya's so called "Apology" to Oliver is a JOKE!!! She should be horsewhipped at least. I now find her character totally Repugnant! Blake is a F***tard of monumental proportions! How can he be related to Quinn??? Zane and Maya's attitudes made my BLOOD BOIL!What was the author THINKING????
