About this listen
At last, a relationship book for lesbians that tells it like it is….
The journey from sexual curiosity to finally coming out can be confusing without proper guidance and empowering role models. In Same Sex in the City, Lauren Levin and Lauren Blitzer provide women - gay, straight, and bi-curious alike - with firsthand insight into the advantages and challenges of being a lesbian. In prose that is at once honest and uplifting, the Laurens relate their own experiences and those of the women they interview, as well as offer serious advice, titillating anecdotes, and a positive attitude for girls who know they're gay - and for those who are wondering about their sexuality but are not yet sure whether their Prince Charming is really a Cinderella.
Part confessional, part informational, Same Sex in the City covers the gamut of lesbian life - from dating to heartbreak, and from hooking up with straight chicks to raising a family. It's the book that millions of women have been searching for - a relationship guide that will help every woman come to terms with and celebrate her sexuality, whatever it may be.

Story
Suddenly in the spotlight, 24-year-old Hannah Brown realized that she wasn’t sure what she wanted. After years of competing in beauty pageants, and then starring on The Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars, she had become incredibly visible. There she was, in her early twenties, with millions around the world examining and weighing in on her every decision. She found herself wondering what it would mean to live on her terms. What it would mean to stop seeking approval from others and decide - for the first time - what it was she wanted from her own life.

Story
From breakout stand-up comedian Iliza Shlesinger comes a subversively funny collection of essays and observations on a confident woman's approach to friendship, singlehood, and relationships. "Girl Logic" is Iliza's term for the way women obsess over details and situations that men don't necessarily even notice. She describes it as a characteristically female way of thinking that appears to be contradictory and circuitous but is actually a complicated and highly evolved way of looking at the world.

Story
An insightful, candid, and inspiring memoir from Karamo Brown - Queer Eye’s beloved culture expert - as he shares his story for the first time, exploring how the challenges in his own life have allowed him to forever transform the lives of those in need. When Karamo Brown first auditioned for the casting directors of Netflix’s Queer Eye, he knew he wouldn’t win the role of culture expert by discussing art and theater. Instead, he decided to redefine what “culture” could - and should - mean for the show. He took a risk and declared, “I am culture.”

A fixation on porn and orgasm, strings of failed relationships and serial hook-ups with strangers, inevitable blackouts to blunt the shame - these are not things we often hear women share publicly, and not with the candor, eloquence and introspection Erica Garza brings to Getting Off. Garza draws an evocative, studied portrait of the anxiety that fuels her obsessions as well as the exhilaration and hope she begins to feel when she suspects she might be free of them. And yet there is no false or prepackaged sense of redemption here.

From one of the world's foremost intersex activists, a candid, provocative, and eye-opening memoir of gender identity, self-acceptance, and love. My name is Hida Viloria. I was raised as a girl but discovered at a young age that my body looked different. Having endured an often turbulent home life as a kid, there were many times when I felt scared and alone, especially given my attraction to girls. But unlike most people in the first world who are born intersex - I grew up in the body I was born with because my parents did not have my sex characteristics surgically altered at birth.

My fiancé and I LOVED this book.
LOVED!!
I came "out out" when I began dating my fiancé. I SOOOO wish I had a book like this one, growing up. I was so confused and locked in a psychological bubble of "supposed tos, cause it's the right ways and cause they said sos". Even still I suffer, but after reading this book I feel like a heavy weight has been lifted. I now understand that what I feel is not wrong but normal, so THANK YOU... I NEEDED THIS!

Still Relevant
Though this book is now over ten years old and some of the information is now outdated, there is still much that is relevant and helpful in the book. It covers quite a few different areas and given my bisexuality the chapters concerning bi girls and turning straight girls encompassed much of my social life during the last 20 years. Sexual ambiguity is not something very many partners are okay dealing with, so even if you're barely bi, lesbian girls tend to treat you as if you're straight. For those sisters who are gay, bi, unsure, maybe gay, or if you have friends or relatives who are this book is worth the credit to you.
