About this listen

Lori had always planned to get out of tiny Tumble Creek, Colorado, but when her late dad left her his beloved auto body shop, she'd stayed. Now, according to her crazy best friend, Molly, what Lori needs is some excitement, in the form of hot, no-strings-attached sex...and lots of it.

Quinn Jennings has buildings on the brain - not love and romance. A serious architect, he's delighted to discover that Lori is willing to skip dating protocols and head straight for the sheets. And aided by the steamy books on Lori's bedside table, he's busy indulging both of their wildest fantasies.

But when life in Tumble Creek takes a dangerous turn for Lori, Quinn's protective instincts kick in. Suddenly, he cares - more than either of them ever expected...

HOT, SEXY, EXCITING.

GREAT NARRATOR, AMAZING STORY LINE, FUN CHARACTORS. WHAT ELSE CAN YOU ASK FOR? I THOUGHT THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING LIKE ALL OF VICTORIA DAHLS BOOKS. THE ONLY THING I DIDNT CARE FOR WAS THE END. IT HAD A GREAT ENDING BUT I WAS EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS. WORTH LISTENING TO. I WILL BE LISTENING TO IT AGAIN.

Just perfect!

This book came together better than the first one. I loved how Lori was able to find love with Quinn but how both of them were too stubborn to admit it. I also appreciate how they came together in the end.

Just OK

Victoria Dahl writes books with GREAT male leads, but the female leads are more annoying than cute. This book had some pretty hot scenes, and the fact that they were initiated by Quinn, the "studly nerd," made them that much more adorable. But the way that Lori continued to reject any offers of support or genuine emotion from him became tedious. You want to feel like the lead characters appreciate each other and what they have together, but with her I did not get that feeling. So, rather than being a good book, it was "just ok."

Lucky Girl

Not bad, the story had some open ends. like where did she come from? and not really finding her real identity or the possibillity of really having a legitimate happy ending.

Read "Talk Me Down" FIRST

Read "Talk Me Down" before reading "Start Me Up" in order to follow Lori Love's part in each story.

Funny, smart, great romance. Highly recommend both books and most anything by Victoria Dahl.

Romantic mystery avoids stereotypes

Enjoyable romance and mystery with interesting characters. I liked that the lead woman was a mechanic and the male an artistic architect.
The narrator's voice was pleasant to listen to, but occasionally she was not paying attention, and the sentences were harder to follow because she put the stress and pitch in the wrong place, as if she were surprised that there was more to read.

Third one's the charm

I read the third one first because I like the narrator, and decided to try the previous ones in this series. After listening to the second one, I know I won't be listening to the first...the narrator makes all the difference in the world. The storyline was just as fun, but the ho-hum narration isn't as enjoyable to listen to.
