About this listen

The wit and passion of New York Times best-selling author Sabrina Jeffries take center stage as members of a blended family uncover clues about their combined pasts - and blaze paths to their future loves....

Along with his stepsiblings, Sheridan Wolfe, Duke of Armitage, is determined to finally solve the mysteries behind the suspicious deaths of their mother's three husbands. Tasked with investigating a possible suspect, Sheridan finds himself in dangerous proximity to her captivating daughter, Vanessa Pryde. But still haunted by a tragically lost love, the duke is resolved to resist the attraction - and avoid any "scheming" husband-hunters. Besides, lovely Miss Pryde seems utterly smitten with a roguish London playwright....

Vanessa thinks a little scheming may be in order - for it's Sheridan she truly has her sights, and her heart, set on. Her theatrical flirtation is intended only to break through his business-like demeanor and guarded emotions. And as Sheridan's jealousy becomes aroused, the two soon find themselves propelled into a scheme of an altogether different kind, involving a pretend engagement, a secret inquiry - and a perhaps not-so-secret leap into true love....

Finally

Really enjoyed the series… But… it took long enough to get to the killer. Which I am sure you’ll guess by the end of book two. Enjoyable reading and I do love a series…and the Author but…the last did drag on until I feared that the killer was again not going to be revealed!

Enjoyed the whole series

I enjoyed the whole series. I wasn’t sure who the murderer was until til close to the end. I feel these books could also be read as stand alones. Very spicey

It Ended Too Soon

I’m going to have to listen to this one over again, I love Sheridan and Vanessa. What a great pairing. Saintly and stoic Duke and vivacious heiress, join forces to solve a series of murders. Sometimes the perfect person for you is the one you think you shouldn’t want. Fate and an overbearing mama are better than Cupid!
I’m going to listen to the whole series all over again.

Hate the narrators voice

I love the book and I love the story but the narrator is over the top stupid voice makes me wanna shoot myself she keeps miss pronouncing words.
She kept saying Riding coat keeps calling it (Redding goat) every time she says riding coat it sounds like redding goat. Her pronunciation was so over the top I know that is not her natural voice no need to add on the extra stupidness

Hold please … this one’s been phoned in.

This is a good story, and I wanted to see how it ended, enough to read this installment after the last one fell so flat for me. But between the wooden dialogue and the passive action—it felt like someone was telling me what the characters were saying and doing instead of them actually participating in the plot—it was all I could do to get through this one.

Can you spell awful?

In anybook, the dialogue is an important factor in that it gives one an idea of the characters. But, in an audible book, it's very important. Unfortunately in this book there was so very much dialogue....and all bad. It was silly ...immature. I plan to return this book and cannot recommend.

Skip this one

Very disappointed in Sabrina Jeffries, I’ve read much better from her in the past. The romance was tepid and contrived, the dialogue was without wit, and the characters quite unlikeable. Beverly Crick’s somewhat stilted narration didn’t help. I forced myself to finish and I’m hoping I can return this one. Don’t waste your time or credit.

Just didn't do it for me

I found the book slow-going. I was only about 90 minutes in and all that happened was conversation. I think I know where the plot was headed, but time is too precious to invest it in a romance book that didn't pull me in from the first, or at least, the second chapter.
