About this listen

A warrior sworn to kill or die trying...
A woman going through a deadly transformation...
Can they reach safety together?
Or have both of them been targeted for death?

Emily Brooks is just an unremarkable girl living a boring existence - she teaches kindergarten, has a small house on the north end of Tampa, and tries not to envy her sister's perfect life. But Emily holds a remarkable secret within - one that won't stay hidden much longer. She is about to become something and someone completely different - that is, if she lives long enough to undergo the transformation.

Tragar is a Beast Kindred with tragedy in his past. Pain and loss have driven him from the Kindred way of life and into a new career - that of a deadly Verrak assassin. The Verrak take an oath to kill every target they contract for or die trying. Now, Emily is in his crosshairs, but the moment he gets close enough to her, his sharp Kindred senses tell him something is different about this particular target. Emily is a Khalla - a rare female who some say embody the essence of the Goddess herself. She is a treasure beyond compare. Tragar is well aware that his own choices have left him unfit to serve her, but at least he can protect her until he can find someone worthy on his home planet of Rageron.

But there are dark forces in their way. Tragar's oath to kill can not be broken lightly. And there is a shadowy figure rising from the darkness who wishes to claim Emily's life. Can the fallen warrior guide and protect Emily to the place she truly belongs? Or will he die trying? You'll have to listen to Targeted to find out.

Beast Kindred.

I like this one better than the last book, I not a fan of the women from Yawny 6 so those usually are not my favorite of the series. The only thing that EA does in her books is make her heroines too nice, they don’t have as much spunk as I would like. Slowly I am working my way through the series, lots of smexy times. Narrator is good all but the inner dialog whisper for the heroine.

Great story “Bad Narration”

I love all the stories but the narration by William Martin SUCKS!!!. Really need to get a new narrator, he makes it sound so dull and all the whispering from the enter dialogue drives me crazzzyy. PLEASE GET A NEW NARRATOR! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
(Loved the earlier narrations)

Need stronger Female Roles

I love the storylines but we need a stronger female who will Take the kindred she wants! Not waiting to be “saved” by one!

The whispers SUCKS

I’m so invested in this series, but I can’t stand the whispering anymore!!!! Please please do not ever allow this guy to whisper anymore when he narrates in the future. It’s so annoying.

What Should and Could

Personally, I love the Kindred Series. However, it feels like it's being watered down. The narrator is very VERY dull and gives no life to the voices of the characters. His over all lack of enthusiasm in every book now is slowly twiddling away my enjoyment of these series. I highly recommend changing to another Narrator who could give proper life and color to the characters of this series.

Secondly, the story is interesting and I am far more involved with that then the sex scenes. I use to enjoy them, but now it is repetitive. Using the same descriptors over and over again, giving hardly any explanation to the sexual desires if a characters, and ALWAYS having the characters be confused over their own sex drive. Woman at the ages described would not be so confused as to why their body is reacting in this kind of way. Instead they would be more annoyed or aggravated that they can't control their own desires.

Another thing I find lacking is the over all explanations. The lack of communication between characters gives WAY to much unnecessary conflict. Drama where there is no need. Instead of that, have the kindred males sit down with their females, explain things in detail instead of discovering little problems here and there through out the books. Have the conflict be more revolved around the villain of the series rather then your own body. Give us a female protagonist who is more accepting of the changes going on through her body and be more empowered and less of a whiner.

Like I stated before, I highly enjoy the plot, but the three biggest issues are the narrator being dull, the repetitive sexual descriptions and the characters miscommunication and confusion. Fix these three things in future books and this series would grow far more in popularity. I want this series to be well known and adored, but if it continues as a repetitive pace, it will fall and loose itself current fan base.

Wonderful book. Hate the narrator

I continue to purchase all things Evangeline Anderson and have to stop listening to the book for weeks because the narration is horrible. WHY do all the women have to have these weak voices. When I read the books I never picture them as being SOOOOOO meek. The whisper voices are just wrong to me. I guess I need to just stick with reading and stop listening.

Couldn't stand the whispering narrator.

I have been a member of Audible for years, and I have only returned one book before.
I love the Kindred series, but I couldn't get past the 2nd chapter of this audiobook. The narrator was terrible. The whispering!!
I'll get the Kindle version and read it myself.

Frustrating read

I have to say out of all the kindred books this was my least favorite. Emily whined most of the book. only when you get a little ways from half way in the book does it start getting better. The end was very disappointing, but I guess starts the next book. I would losely recommend this book.

Hated the main character

Emily has been the most infuriating and annoying female so far. I'm quitting the series because of this book.
