About this listen

The bet was simple. You draw a name from the hat. That's the girl you have to seduce. The girl you have to make fall head over heels in love with you. It wasn't hard for him to do, in fact, it was something he did all the time. He was known for breaking hearts. Sex was just that, sex. And it didn't take him very long to get a woman on her back.

And then he drew her name: Jules Peterson. His former best friend, first kiss, and first love. She shattered his heart into a million pieces three years ago. She left him right when he needed her most. She had entered his life once again, at almost the perfect time. She was a transfer, fresh meat, and she had just put a target on her back. It was his turn to make her pay and break her heart.

Holding onto that hate, that anger, that f--king heartbreak - it does something to you. It breaks you, and it broke and tainted him, just like he would do to Jules. She used to be his everything, but now she was nothing but a bet.

Not a big fan of bully romances, but this book is well done; brought me to tears with the realistic feelings. And the narrators <3<3<3

The magical twosome, I would be talking about the authors.

Everyone involved with this series did a great job. I listened to the complete series and turned around and listened again. Thanks to everyone for the audiobooks.

Good Book

I enjoyed this book. The subject matter may not be good for all, but the story flowed well and I loved the narration. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorites. I was new to Ava Lucas as a narrator, but she did a great job.,

Great!

Excellent narrators. Story has plenty of tension as well as “the steam”. I was entirely involved throughout.

Love this book but…?

I’m just wondering how did and the dad and brother die? But this book was a winner. There is sexiness, drama, and suspense in this book. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series.

Sexual assault/attempt is a major theme in this story!

This book was well written and easy to listen to, the plot keeps you listening. But Remy is playing a dangerous game in the beginning of the story, it’s a very fine line between sexual assault and desire. At first his behavior with Jules made me uncomfortable and I hated that he was the main love interest. He obviously loves her and her leaving really broke his heart. But it all just didn’t make sense to me, like her parents divorced, her dad got a new job in a new city, and her mom works all the time so she’s never home…of course she’s going to go with her dad. So his hate for her leaving just wasn’t a strong case in my book, so I totally understand her confusion when she tries to greet him at first. He just over does his hated and revenge for her over her family moving after a divorce. He’s obviously got issues, it’s a shame it took him three years to deal with because he clearly comes from a loving and caring family, they just didn’t push him or get him the help he needed. I usually love bully romances but this bullying lasted a little too long and was a little too extreme. Especially since she basically had two bullies. Overall, all the drama with Remy and Jules could have been prevented if they just would have talked and listened to each other. Even when the recording was sent out, Jules wouldn’t let Remy explain. It was frustrating. I’m glad it worked out in the end. I just wish this book was less sexual assaulty and bully-y, and more talky and spicy haha. It had potential to be hotter. That all being said, I like these authors and their work is well written. I think this series will be good. I’ve read The Jock (book 6) and absolutely loved it, so this was a decent start to the series. Can’t wait to read The Dare next, hopefully there is more spice in it.

The Bet

I am not sure about this one. The best part: Teddy Hamilton.
The story: Two childhood friends reconnect, the MMC hates the FMC, bullies her SAs her. FMC is an idiot who doesn't report him because, deep down, she wuvs him and low key enjoys it. Later, at a party, a different guy drugs her and is getting ready to race her, and MMC rescues her. Then they're happy and of course, this is where the bet is revealed to the FMC along with the rest of campus. Drama, drama, reveal, apologies, drama, ah love. bleh Did I mention she doesn't report the guy for trying to date rape her? The girl is an idiot.
Spice: 🌶 which disappointed me since Mr Hamilton was narrating.
I recommend if you have spare credits. It's not a horrible listen, but the writing is amateur.

So good!

Really enjoyed this for all the drama and character reconnect. At first I thought Remy's reason for targeting Jules juvenile (I still think that), but it makes sense with his character and the rest is good. ❤ Big brother Sebastian is the best!
Trigger warning for forced sexual assault (not rape), attempted rape and reliving the trauma.
