About this listen

Ariel Vaughn is a high-powered attorney and a partner at her firm, dating one of the most eligible bachelors in New York City, who is also a powerful judge firmly on the political path. She's living the high life, but her sex life has hit a low point. He was once a tiger in the sheets, but his interest has cooled considerably, and Ariel is wound so tight she's about to explode.

When a hot young escort introduces her to the Black Door and her best friend encourages her to try it out, she finds a fantasy playground for women - full of every sexual temptation a girl could dream of. It is there that she meets a man who turns her on physically, mentally, and emotionally. But when her sexual fantasy life begins to spill into her real life, everything starts to spiral out of control. In this sensual, erotic novel, Ariel stands to lose everything that means something to her for that next sweet fix.

Never heard of Velvet, but she is an amazing writer! The narrator, Honey Jones, has a lovely voice and she is easy to listen to. So glad I got this, I’ll be listening again and again! ❤️

Incredibly juicy!

I struggled finishing the book. The story was really juicy but I think maybe the reader threw me off . The writer repeats a lot too.

too repetitive

This was a very good audio book. I am just glad to see the book on audio. I have read the whole series and let me tell you I could not put it down.

so I loved the story, but the narrator mispronounced too many words and it made it very distracting. I loved her voice, but come on...learn how to pronounce.

great story, but ...

This book was super steamy. I couldn't turn the book off until the end. I enjoyed the entire book and the ending was perfect!

I really enjoyed this book. Won’t give it away but lots of turn and twists. Couldn’t decide it I loved or hate the main character. At the end, I understood them.

Waiting for book 2

Kind of funny mispronunciations, kind of not
Pedantic story with unlikable characters
There are much better choices

Pronunciation matters

Really do not like putting down storyline because authors work hard but this one really a stretch. seemed like story was slow especially towards the end and then wraps up explanation of whole storyline in just a few minutes. this read was first book i have read that i would not have spent money on to read.

unrealistic storyline

The black door started off really good. I sympathized with Ariel and the lack of passion in her sex life. The slow burning passion between Ariel and Trey was really good. I felt like it was building up to be this climactic thing. I didn't know if they were going to end up together or if other factors were going to deter them. However the way that the author chose to end the story left much to be desired. The whole story she was building up to this climax like what is going to happen, how is this going to be resolved, what are they going to do and she just ended it like it was just very abrupt and I didn't care for it. I don't think I will be reading any more in this series.

Good start but bad ending

The ending.....? We went through the mis pronunciation of words and build up of drama only to receive the quick cop out of short term memory loss. Very dismal. Ariel got a little out of character when the Judge proclaimed his job came before EVERYTHING. Being that she married him and didn't really want him, it makes her look horrible. Realistically would Michelle really keep her mouth shut? Throw the whole ending away.

eeeeehhhhh.......
