About this listen

RITA Award Winner, Best Novel with Strong Romantic Elements, 2009

Finally out of the celebrity spotlight and away from her mother's demands, Cilla is free to do what she loves: fixing up houses for profit. But her current project is personal. The Shenandoah Valley farm house was once the vacation home of Hollywood luminary Janet Hardy, Cilla's grandmother.

When Cilla uncovers a stash of her grandmother's private letters, and begins asking questions about the past, she becomes the target of a crazed killer who's determined to keep family secrets buried no matter what the cost.

Fantastic!!

Tribute combines rich character development, excellent plot line, and flawless narration. Best I've listened to or read in a long time.

Good narrator and story don't believe negative

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I really enjoyed this book. The narrator is good and keeping my attention and I am very fussy about what narrators I give my credit to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like the heroine and hero both.

What about Jennifer Van Dyck’s performance did you like?

She gets the accent and is not grating on my ears and her voice varies in the conversations for each character. I really believed I was listening to two people not to a monologue by a bored narrator.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole book was good, not one scene stood out but it flowed along nicely and kept me entertained and took my mind off of life's pressing problems. It is a good escape.

Any additional comments?

I recommend some of Nora Roberts other books if you like this one, her series with Blue Dahlia, Black Rose and Red Lily is a good trio set in Tennessee and has the right amount of Spice and Steamy and characters are very likeable.

The Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts starting with Vision in White, Bed of Roses, Savor the Moment and Happy Ever After and her Inn at Boonsboro series with the The Girl Next Door, The Last Boyfriend and the The Perfect Hope.

Narrator

This novel was difficult to listen to ... did not like the narrator’s voice or how they read the characters. A little over the top for the character “Ford”. I will not recommend this to my audible readers.

Wonderful book

I really enjoyed this book and the story was great. However, I got very frustrated with the sound/volume. It would happen when the characters spoke to themselves that it became a whisper. At that point I would have to turn up the volume only to turn it back down the next minute.

great premise, falls short

So the book had some great ideas and touched on them, I really liked the characters but was disappointed in the how they wrapped the story up. It seemed like the author just ran out of steam and wanted to end it and did the easiest, simplest way. Had a lot of potential but fell short in my opinion.

Great story!

The only thing I would’ve changed is the narrator’s voice didn’t fit a 28 year old main character. She made her sound much older and it threw off the story for me a bit. Otherwise, I loved the book.
