About this listen

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents a novel of redemption and suspense, as a woman haunted by the unsolved murder of her childhood friend returns to her small South Carolina hometown....

Tory Bodeen grew up in a run-down house where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt - and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. Her one escape was her neighbor Hope, who lived in the big house just a short skip away, and whose friendship allowed Tory to be something she wasn’t allowed to be at home: a child.

Then Hope was brutally murdered, and everything fell apart.

Now, as she returns to Progress with plans to settle in and open a stylish home-design shop, Tory is determined to find a measure of peace and free herself from the haunting visions of the past. As she forges a new bond with Cade Lavelle - Hope’s older brother and the heir to the family fortune - she isn’t sure whether the tragic loss they share will unite them or drive them apart. But she is willing to open her heart, just a little, and try.

But living so close to those unhappy memories will be more difficult and frightening than Tory could ever have expected. Because Hope’s murderer is nearby as well....

“Roberts may have achieved her personal best in this tense Southern Gothic. As atmospheric and unsettling as a Tennessee Williams play.... This is romantic drama at its best.” - Publishers Weekly (starred review)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Carolina Moon?

I loved the relationship between Tory and Faith.

What about Dean Robertson’s performance did you like?

After I figured out she was reading the book instead of giving the charactors different voices, I began to enjoy it. It took me back to school days when the teacher would read out loud to us. One thing that bug the crap out of my was she would speed up and read to fast, then would read as slow as a snail. It drove me crazy!

Any additional comments?

The novel itself was great, as I said before if you can get over the narrator it is a good book...but the narration was the kicker.

If you can get over the narration the book is good

A good story well told. Strong female characters and a wonderful southern setting. I enjoyed the read. A good book to curl up with on a quiet afternoon.

Great narration and a good story

this was a great story. I fell in love with the characters and laughed and cried, but the narrator was terrible. I had to slow the the speed down just so it was not like one run on sentence. she had no differentiation between characters so it made it difficult to follow at times.

story was great, narrator was not

One of Nora's best, but the narration is dreadful. Emotionless, deadpan, dry and read as if she can't wait to finish it. Awful

Great story, awful narration

absolutely loved the story. with a better narrator, people would love to listen! every so often I'd get lost on which character was talking (narrator problems) , but that's my only complaint.

great story 👏 Narrator ruined it 😒

Loved the story, kept me guessing! Bad choice on narrator however, no emotion, difficulty knowing which character was speaking.

Terrible performance for a Great Book!

Moves quickly, narrator wasn’t annoying, good plot, dramatic twist, I would definitely recommend this book
