My orders are simple. Capture her. Marry her. Take her inheritance. Get rid of her.
The bookish little recluse is worth more than she knows. She’s an unassuming librarian. I’m the brigadier of the Russian Bratva. She has no friends. I command a small army.
She’s a modest woman. And now she’s mine.

The narration was absolutely amazing! Wen Ross did an amazing Russian accent and then switched to a timid female voice seamlessly!

The Bratva’s Baby is the first book in the Wicked Doms series, and this is my first read by Jane Henry. This is a dark Russian mafia romance and is Kazimir and Sadie's story.
The mafia thinks Sadie is set to inherit a large sum. As is the case, Kazimir is tasked with kidnapping her, marrying her, and claiming her inheritance. When Sadie is kidnapped, she is taken to another country. Sadie has no family or friends and can't imagine why Kazimir has chosen to take her against her will. She is strong and feisty. Sadie has many insecurities that play out throughout the story, but she never gives up on getting away from the mafia. Kazimir leads men in the mafia and is cruel. He has a history of "training" and abusing women to prepare them for the mafia's use. As Sadie and Kazmir spend more time together, Sadie is able to melt Kazmir's cold heart. As their relationship grows, Kazmir battles between wanting to follow orders given by the head of the mafia, a father figure for him, or leaning into his blossoming love for Sadie.
As a new Jane Henry reader/listener, I did not know what to expect from this story. The Bratva's Baby is intense, and there are a few twists and turns I did not predict. The story is fast-paced, but the author takes the time to build the relationship between Kazmir and Sadie. Sadie knows Kazmir is dark and dangerous, but she can't help but be drawn to him. I love how Sadie becomes a source of comfort for Kazmir when he is fighting his internal demons. Their relationship started with a kidnapping, but in the end, Kazmir earned Sadie's trust.
NARRATION:
Wen Ross did a great job portraying the characters and bringing them to life. He did well with the accents. I prefer more than solo narration, but he did well, even with the female voices. I would have preferred a dual narration with the inclusion of a female narrator. Overall, Wen Ross gave a good performance and enhanced my listening experience.
