About this listen

Mara Hawthorne found the perfect attic apartment in a small town far away from the heartbreaks of her former life in New York City. Her new home has everything she needs: an abundance of natural light for painting, a handsome landlord, and peace and quiet. But something secret hides in the shadows and watches her every move. All her life, she has wished for nothing more than someone to love, someone who would love her and never leave her. Be careful what you wish for.

Authors Note: This an erotic horror novella - it contains explicit sex and some violence. It should be heard by mature audiences only.

The Presence, exactly what it's lacking

In this story focusing on Mara, a divorced artist from NY, who moves into a room in the renovated house of Jonathan Weber, there was too much inner dialogue, and the dialogue between the main characters was too often mundane. She knowingly agrees to move into a room that locals say includes a male ghost that no one has ever seen. She doesn't believe in ghost and is not worried, so her response to the ghost didn't make sense. I won't say more as to not give too much away. And this was the most non-erotica erotica I've ever heard, and I have well over a 1200 Audible books, plenty of which are from the erotica section. And the narrator didn't help. The narrator lacked the capacity to do little more than read the words resulting in a mundane listening experience. She tried, but it was pretty humdrum. A better story may be able to hold up under this narrator's unexciting tone. I don't know. The story had about 2 sex scenes and a few boring sex thoughts. The sex scenes were brief with non-detailed boring sex, no titillation, pristine, and non-sexy language. The closest this story got to erotica was a statement like "with mouth, tongue and hand he explored me." But then there was no info on the actual exploring. The listener has to assume and make it all up in our head. And there was a sentence talking about a "penis" and her "vagina" "joining" and "shattering."
Save your money unless you quest for non-erotica, erotica without romance or sensuality as well.
