About this listen

The last time I saw Nevada Kane, I was 17, and he was loading his things into the back of his truck, about to embark on a 14-hour drive to the only college that offered him a full ride to play basketball.

I told him I'd wait for him. He promised to do the same.

But life happened.

I broke my promise long before he ever broke his - and not because I wanted to.

We never saw each other again....

Until 10 years later, when Nevada unexpectedly returned to our hometown after an abrupt retirement from his professional basketball career. Suddenly, he was everywhere, always staring through me with that brooding gaze, never returning my smiles or "hellos".

Over the years, I'd heard that he'd changed. And that despite his multi-million dollar contracts and rampant success, life hadn't been so kind to him.

He was a widower.

And a single father.

And rumor had it, he'd spent his last 10 years trying to forget me, refusing to so much as breathe my name...hating me.

But just like a rebound, he's back.

And I have to believe everything happens for a reason.

Contains mature themes.

Enjoyed this story.

There was really good character development. The author gave good background to each of the characters. And pretty soon I was very involved in the storyline. It was a good read.

Great book

I really enjoyed this book and I loved listening to every minute of the story. I got so emotional in parts of the story, the feeling that we’re so raw and genuine. Yardley was so determined...I don’t think I could do it but she got the life that was hers and should have been from the beginning.

Meh...

I’m not sure how to feel about this story. I know that this started out with a young couple and of course they are immature, but the immaturity continued 10 years later. I’ll admit I skipped through some of it. I have enjoyed other Winter Renshaw’s books, this one was just “meh”...for me.

Should come with a warning of sad and stupid

Honestly, this book was just painful to listen to. The characters are immature throughout the entire book. It has no funny or uplifting parts, it is sad, full of death and heartbreak and generally miserable. The two main characters are so ridiculous that it made the story completely unbelievable. They are supposedly so in love, but it takes 10 years for them to even talk to each other to understand a misunderstanding? And the performers... Paul Brian was okay, I think he did the best he could with what he had to work with, but Savannah Peachwood, OMG, not every sentence needs to be read as if you were delivering a eulogy! Admittedly, the character she voiced was meh at the best of times and downright stupid other times. This book has no redeeming qualities. Don’t waste the hours of your life it will take to listen!
