About this listen

From Wall Street Journal and #1 Amazon bestselling author Winter Renshaw comes an enemies-to-lovers romance about the journey of self-discovery that follows a life-changing event.

After a brush with death, I realize it’s time to make changes in my life. Big changes.

First, my job. I love being a journalist, but I hate my megawatt magnate boss, West Maxwell. When he demands I rewrite an article on short notice, I turn the tables on him with a scathing new column and quit in a blaze of glory.

But West isn’t about to let me go that easily, the jerk. He offers me an unexpected new position: mentor to his rebellious teenage niece. For some reason, I agree—I like helping people, but I’m also admittedly curious to glimpse the man behind the mogul.

However, I soon discover that my new assignment isn’t what I expected. As I learn about the private side of my enigmatic boss, I start to see the heart he hides behind his icy facade. The old Elle hated West...but maybe—just maybe—the new Elle can tame him.

female lead drags the book down

story is ok, could be good but the female Mc is terrible. Her phrasing takes you out of the book and her accent is ... not good. I'd rather have read this one.

so much missed potential

This book could have been amazing, however the female narrator was TERRIBLE! it's like she was found on wish. I'm sure she has potential however I'm surprised that the editors listened to the book and thought this is it! let's publish. Then some parts of the book made me cringe and I'm not sure if it's because I was over the narration or if it was just bad. overall the guy was phenomenal, the book was just "ok" nothing I'd recommend. I would definitely try to republish with a different female narrator though, she's messing the book up!

Read, don’t listen

I had to stop the audio version. It was terrible. The female narrator was just awful, her cadence and tones were all wrong for the text. She mispronounced multiple words and took awkward pauses in the middle of sentences or thoughts. I tried to keep going but her performance ruins the story.

ok. but not great

(West & Elle): Elle is a journalist for a men's magazine. After a brush with death, a bad breakup and a run in with her boss, West, she decides to make some changes. So she quits her job but not before giving her boss a piece of her mind. West owns the men's magazine and recently got custody of his niece from her mother. He realizes that dealing with a 14 year old girl is not easy. So he gets Elle to spend time with her and keep her out of trouble. This story moves a little slow and isn't extremely graphic but it's a good story. It was good but not my favorite from this author. I felt it was kind of weird to have an adult hang around a teenager all the time for free. But then I thought about it as a kind of big sister program and it sat better in my mind. Love the square off with the ex. That was the only funny part of the book. The epilogues did really good at completing the storylines in the book.

It was an okay listen. Low on spice, but not pure love. Def a slow-burn. Prob one & done for me.

Emotional and Sweet!

The Dirty Truth is a beautifully written sweet romance. I read it and loved it. The audiobook version is amazing. I loved the characters. They are complex, and well developed. West is such an interesting and enigmatic character. Elle is beautiful, kind, smart, caring, and supportive. I loved Scarlett. The storyline is gripping, emotional, and engaging. Aaron Shedlock and Nicola Lambo did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed it.
