About this listen

A holiday novella

Allison Travers is in love with two men. Two! Quinn and Porter are both irresistible, and making a choice between them seems impossible. But she fears she’ll lose the chance to decide when a malicious man seeks to force her into marriage with him by spreading rumors painting her as a woman with loose morals.

Quinn and Porter aren’t about to buy the lies. They love Allison, and what’s more, they both want to marry her. Allison, unaware that one woman for two husbands is the way of the Bridgewater men, soon learns of their customs. And she learns something else as well: Once they track her down, these two handsome cowboys will never let go of the woman they plan to make their Christmas Bride.

I’m enjoying Ms. Vale’s Bridgewater Series very much as I crochet. I’m disappointed with the continual mispronouncing of certain words, such as chemise, lave, etc. However, if Ms. Stewart, the narrator, is going to mispronounce words, it would be nice if she stuck to the same mispronunciation instead of deciding to change them in the SIXTH book. By the way, it’s pronounced shuh-meez. Thanks.

I was in the mood for some Christmas stories, so I picked up this one. It was a quick one with Allison finding out that she was going to marry the men she had loved from afar. It was a little less sexy than I expected, but it was a good quick read. Great for a holiday read.

The narrator did a great job telling the story.

Good, quick read

Allison finds happiness with the men who hold her affections, Quinn and Porter. They have been steadfast since she met them, making it hard to select her forever love. But as happens with the Bridgewater men, she need not choose. She just needs to revel in the multiple pleasures they bring. Another great addition to the series, but I do wish it was longer.

Steamy novella

The characters, it could be a terrific book if it just developed a little further

Narrator seemed a bit uncomfortable reading the book. Very stiff (no pun intended).
The story line was hot.

Story was too short. There are many ways it could have been made longer. It was a big disappointment.

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Audible Premium Plus borrow. 3 POV. Very brief novella in The Bridgewater Ménage Series, book 6 of 12. The narrator read well (average American accent) but there were unnecessarily long pauses between chapters. Listed as 1 hour 1 minute; I listened at speed 1.50 for 41 minutes. I didn't like the back and forth present to past. IMO, the story would've been so much better had it just been one continuous timeline. Trigger warning: slander; butt smack; bondage w/handcuffs.

Allison lives and works in the town's boarding house. When the owners of the boarding house sold it to a young couple she loses both her job and her home with very little time to decide her next step. One of the men in town threatens to ruin her reputation and accuse her of theft if she doesn't marry him so she packs up and leaves town. She is met by Quinn, Porter, and the sheriff upon her arrival at her destination. Allison believes they've come to arrest her and her fear escalates when the 3 men take her to the jail. Porter quickly reveals that they know the man lied but that she should've come to them and then he legally marries her. The sheriff excuses himself to return to his family as it's Christmas. Quinn and Porter then inform Allison that she's married to both of them as is the tradition of the people who live at the Bridgewater ranch. They then reveal they have been unofficially courting her for the past 2 years and that they were upset that she hadn't come to them with the man's underhanded scheme. JP
