About this listen

Teagan:

I wanted to go home.

Moving to America wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the family next door, but because of my so-called guardian - and I used that term lightly - we were the latest family to take up residency in Thirteenth Street, and I was the sole target of the bitch over the fence.

But, for me, life was a lot to get a lot worse.

Noah Messina, Ellie's step-brother, had decided to join her torment-the-new-girl-until-she-cracks mission.

There had been a fight in their driveway last weekend between Noah and some other tattooed douchebag that had progressed into our yard, resulting in the windshield of my car being smashed when Noah pummeled his opponent through it. Thinking back now I had to admit that I sort of overreacted when I stalked outside in nothing but a Coldplay T-shirt and a black thong and tossed an entire can of white gloss paint over the hood of Noah's black Lexus in retaliation. I guess it had felt damn good to fight back instead of letting them walk all over me....

Destroying Noah's car with paint was like waving a red rag in front of a bull. He lost it.

Right there in my driveway, with his T-shirt ripped from his body and blood dripping from his eyebrow, Noah Messina had thrown the biggest man-tantrum I'd ever seen before declaring war on me....

Noah:

I was going to lose my shit over the girl-next-door.

God, three months of having her live next door to me and I still felt like slamming my head into the garden wall - now worse than ever since she had challenged me.

The defiance in her eyes as she stared at me down before bending over the hood of my baby and emptying the can of paint was something that struck a chord inside of me. I'd never been so angry or turned on in my life.

Pure rage had flooded my veins, driven on even further when Teagan taunted me with her potty mouth and yeah, I'd kind of lost it with her. Problem was I had an even uglier temper, and Friday night Teagan Connolly ignited it like no one had before.

When she slapped me and pressed her tight little body against mine, taunting me with that sharp tongue of hers, I'd never been so close to putting my hands on a woman in my life.

Except instead of hurting her, I wanted to toss her sexy little ass on the hood of my car and take her right there, not caring who saw us. The urge to be inside her was like nothing I'd ever felt in my life....

Contains mature themes.

This is a cliffhanger

I think this book is ok but I don’t like cliffhangers. I don’t like to be forced to read or listen to another book to see what happens.

True enemy to lover romance.

Love the Irish accent the narrator put on. Teagan was actually kind of funny! I never think anyone is funny but her comebacks were great.

Like no other

Story was like nothing else I’ve heard and was addictive. It was a roller coaster and a bit frustrating both in good and not good ways as is typical for CW and is what keeps you hooked

Storyline, Characters, and References

The character building, the background, the observances made by other characters, and the expressions of their personalities was so endearing and enticing. Considering the length of the book, the storyline is also interesting to keep you engaged. If the book would’ve been longer, I can easily see this becoming a TV series (maybe it could if the author would work with screenwriters on additional content for this first book).

I also LOVE the references to popular songs—since music is so important to the heroine. It made me feel more attached. It’s so funny though, that when I was first getting to know the heroine I thought to myself, “I bet she would be a Florence and the Machine fan”. And a few chapters later she was on her front porch singing Florence and the Machine’s “Kiss With a Fist”. Brilliant.

The only thing I struggled with was the voice actor for the Teagan . When doing the dialogue for Noah, it was so quiet that I literally couldn’t hear it through my speakers. I also didn’t care for the fact that Teagan’s internal dialogue was NOT in her Irish speaking accent. It threw me, and even disappointed me. I love Teagan’s Irish accent and wanted to hear it throughout the entire story. And in some ways—having to hear that switch in accents made me look forward to the voice actor for Noah more. That being said, the voice actor for Noah did an OUTSTANDING job, and was a perfect fit for this story. I really hope to hear his performances on many kore audiobooks in the future. I would love to see what he could do working for Graphic Audio audiobooks.

Well done to Chloe Walsh for loving these characters enough to fit them into a shorter novel length than I imagine she had originally envisioned. I hope Chloe will advocate for– and trust in herself in the future. Enough so to release novels that turn into 20hr long audiobooks. I’m totally here for that!!!

Good story but terrible narrators

The story is pretty good as far as these types of stories go. But the narration is so bad it’s hard to listen to. The female narrator sounds like she’s 40 and her voice for the male character is almost creepy. The male narrator is better but his Irish accented voice for the female character is just bad. I say all of this because it really does detract from the enjoyment of the story. If you read actual books rather than just listen to them, I’d recommend that for this book.

Good story…awful narration

The story is good, but it’s hard to listen to the narration. The story is in first person point of view, and the heroine is supposed to be Irish. The female narrator speaks in a weird, overly proper British accent while performing the heroine’s thoughts and views, and switches to a screeching “Irish” accent when the heroine speaks…but actually sounds more Scottish than Irish. Soooo hard to listen to!

Dangerous hot alpha=GOOD listen !

Ignore the one review that said this wasn’t worth the listen, I almost didn’t download because of that but glad I took a chance! I’ve been on the lookout for a series as I feel like I’ve listened to them all. This one reminds me of “fear me” as it’s set in high school with primary characters being 17-18yrs but has very adult themes etc. and at times is a little young but definitely not the hot steamy moments!
“Treacherous”has danger, misunderstandings, miscommunications, evil jealous sleezebags, and an enemy to friends to lovers romance between the main characters Noah and Teagan. Btw, I would be Noah’s ANYthjng lmao!
Okay so the story is about the meeting and eventual relationship between Noah (hot, dangerous, bad boy) and Teagan, a 17yr girl who moves to Colorado from Ireland. There is a lot of back and forth between the 2 of them as well as a slutty step sister. They are neighbors and a fued begins which at times was entertaining and at times cringe worthy, but from there stems the unlikely duo of Noah and the thorn in his side (Teagan). I did find Teagans behavior silly at too many points, as if she were 13 and not 2 months away from 18. But again the female narrator when speaking 1st person for Teagan, made her sound like a total spaz at those points and that was difficult. HOWEVER, once the story got going I was so into it I overlooked those parts, the male narration worked and as long as 1st person Teagan wasn’t speaking the narration worked and I was thoroughly engrossed In the story. I’m sooo happy I hung in there, as the story got more exciting as the book progressed! And some chapters were absolutely FANTASTIC listen!
If you liked “fear me”, the “bully” series or Amo Jones Elite Kings series you’ll be happy to find another trilogy for escape!
This first book is a cliffhanger, but I just listened to 2nd and downloading 3rd as I write this! Second book even better!

Not my favorite

I had to DNF this one and I’m not picky. I allow my kindle to read to me and the voices never bother me .

Horrible Narrator

Why is there an old British narrator that then goes into an Irish accent? She sounds like she should be narrating Harry Potter. So disappointing because I absolutely love the Boys of Tommen series.

female narrator throws the story off

the female narrator's voice sounded more like a 45 year old snobby British royal than a 17year old girl
