About this listen

Selena Taylor is an American citizen determined to find her grandparents after she loses her family to the violence of the drug cartel in Mexico. Crossing the border into Texas turns out to be the easy part.

Virtually penniless and enticingly innocent, she soon finds herself at the mercy of Travis Blake. Travis is a hard-working, self-made rancher who has never known love or softness of any kind. His only use for women is sexual, and Selena is caught on his ranch with no way out.

While Selena plots her escape from his control, Travis ruthlessly and methodically tightens his possession and makes it impossible for her to leave.

The struggle that follows is a clash of wills that pits purity against passion, virtue against vice and love against lust.

I really like the writing style of Lynda Chance... her books always hit those angst buttons for me in a way, that doesn't drive me totally insane...

Marco's Redemption was great, and I got this thinking it was a follow up... but nope it wasn't...totally different book.

This was great as well... the plot was really something, too...The heroine was a Mexican American, who cross the border into Texas with no money, on her way to find her grandmother after her family was killed by the Mexican drug cartel. She ends up on the hero's ranch. He immediately recognizes that she is a girl and not a boy (as she told everyone she was a boy). He locks up her in his house (for her own safety). He slowly begins to demand things from her (cooking, cleaning, and learning English)... She obliges... and the romantic chemistry just sizzles between these two. She is very innocent and he...well is not so much... He slowly falls for her and she for him... then well of course he marries her for her safety...but really we all known he just wants her...

Great story... and quite funny at times... The hero is such a romantic when he gets the baby skunks for the heroine... So cute...

Great Credit or sale... I would pass on the buy unless is under 10 bucks... this can wait for a credit or sale... It's not a must listen to now...but a definite enjoyable listen once purchased...

Great Lynda Chance Book!

I sometimes believe that editors have a club, where they all come together and decide what lines will be used somewhere in each Romance book they edit and that they each follow the same story line so not to 'up' one author over another!!! I mean, how else would there be so many Romance novels using the same weak story lines and the same obnoxious lines like, "You liar". or, "Where did that thought come from??" or, "His smile didn't reach his eyes." ughhhh. Please, please, NO MORE COPYING STORY LINES AND CONVERSATIONAL LINES. I for one have Had enough.
So, this is my recommendation for this book. If you like reading the same story line where there is an instant attraction between the H and h, and they both have a HORRIFIC past that is messing up their present, and if you enjoy and are dumb enough to forgive and take a man back who CHEATS openly on you and even invites you in to participate! Then, this is the book for you. You know.... not too unlike the many others we've listened to.

VERY WEAK STORY

Any additional comments?

Sometimes, when I can’t find a book in Audible.com that I am interesting in, I usually go by an appealing title.
I believe, I have learned my lesson.Unfortunately I did not like this book at all. After looking at previous reviews I decided to give it a try. Yes Travis is possessive which I usual love in a book HOWEVER there really isn't a story line and as a result Travis doesn't grow as a character you never really get to know him on a more personal level - not because he's mysterious but because the way the story was written.

it was ok

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

NOTHING

Any additional comments?

I HAVE NEVER WROTE A COMMENT BEFORE. HOWEVER, THIS BOOK WAS JUST AWFUL!!! THE WHOLE BOOK WAS CHILDLIKE AND SIMPLE. PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE MALE WITH AN ACCOMMODATING CONFUSED SCARED VIRGIN. NOTHING SENSUAL, SEXY OR INTELLIGENT ABOUT THEIR REPARTEE.

NOT MUCH CAN BE DONE WITH MAIN MALE CHARACTER
