Loved it

Whoa buddy! This was a great book! I was very impressed with the narrator! I loved the story! It was super hard to stop listening to it ... wonderful job!

5 star narration!

First, I loved the narration. I listened to 5 seconds of the sample and immediately grabbed this. I read about 60% of the book then switched to the audio and finally learned how to pronounce several words, haha. I do think it’s funny that Radek and Adam don’t have a polish accent, but Emil, Yev and Yev’s family have accents. I think it was to help differentiate characters, and I’ll forgive it, but it’s still funny.

I found the first book a little hard to get through - it’s really long and the pacing was rough in places - but I still rated it high because it was a really interesting story and I liked the main characters.

This book? I loved it from start to finish! We meet Radek in the first book as Emil’s sometimes f*ck buddy and a free spirit. He’s moved to a bigger city for college and to do all the things he couldn’t do growing up in a very small rural town. In this book, he’s visiting home in December and things quickly go from having a crazy house party to his life changing overnight.

Enter Yev - a gentle giant of sorts. He and Radek have a rocky start, but Yev has a big heart and a lot of empathy. I honestly loved how rock solid Yev was and how quickly he came to understand Radek. They become incredibly close in a short amount of time because they can finally be themselves with each other, Yev in particular.

The story itself was really interesting. There are some really tense spots but that feeling was never dragged out and things were either resolved quickly or the characters immediately started working towards a solution or outright addressed any issues. And, again, Yev and Radek are solid together, even when they have a few blow up moments.

And just know … there’s definitely some “monster f*cking” as the authors put it on TikTok hahaha. Those scenes are spicy!

I highly recommend not reading the blurb and jumping right into the story. You don’t have to read the first book and can read this as a stand-alone, but there will be some things about Emil (from the first book) that you won’t know or understand since Emil and Adam have some big secrets that they keep to themselves and are only revealed in the first book.

Never read anything like it!

Omg loved it soooooo much! This was not like any shifter book I’ve read before, K.A. Merikan never disappoints. One banished wolf shift and a fox “changeling” come together ♥️🐺🦊. There first meeting doesn’t go well, but they come together to well. I don’t want to say too much, highly recommend reading/listening to this one. Wyatt Baker does an amazing job... like always 🥰.

Solid follow up to first book

Really enjoyed the werewolf and fox changeling aspect in this one! This series may be one of my favorites from Merikan - the folk lore and paranormal aspects are SO intriguing.

Solid story

I really liked how this was written. It’s warm, romantic, and funny. The characters were their own, fully fleshed out, and felt believable. I also liked how the characters represented their animals - foxes are friendly, playful, ect and wolves are loyal, stand offish, and affectionate. I have read a lot of mxm and often times one is usually written in a really toxic manner but I think this author did a great job of being assertive, protective, without being controlling and over bearing. I think the world was really well built and defined.

Radek & Yev, perfect together

I really, really enjoyed this one.
It's quite a bit different than Where the Devil Says Goodnight, in that it's not super mysterious, not as ominous, not as trippy. Although there is magic and mysticism, it's not as dark and twisting. But that's not to say that it's totally predictable. I wasn't entirely sure how things would work out at all, beyond being certain that Radek & Yev would have whatever sort of HEA that the writing team of K.A. Merikan felt they ought to have.
So far as the characters, Radek will probably annoy some readers, as they might find him immature at times. (I've noticed that there are people who expect a lot of characters in their early 20s). For me, his immaturity wasn't at all a problem. He's only 22, barely out of school, and hasn't been given any responsibility in the past. I understood him being the way he was. Given the opportunity, in his situation, once things got weird & hard, I would've been a much bigger hot mess of whining & curling into a ball. And I'm nearly twice his age.
I had a hard time understanding Yev at times, as he was so sure that he had to be accepted by his pack that he would give up his chance at true happiness. But he was clearly indoctrinated and I had to remind myself of that any time I felt an overpowering need to slap him silly.
All that being said, I loved their relationship, how they needed one another, how they worked to support one another and understand as best they could. I loved what softies they both could be that is when they weren't super hot for each other, absolute powerhouses of unbridled passion, that is.
The overall plot of the book, the issues they both had to deal with, kept me in suspense to the end, but I liked the characters enough that I could've just had a book of them traipsing about the house & town and been content.
The narration for the audio version was quite good, so far as emotion, pacing, and voice differentiation. There's a part of me that still thinks it weird that certain characters have stronger Eastern European accents and others, like Radek, sound about American, when they're all actually speaking Polish. There IS a point made about how Yev is from Ukraine & thus has a different accent. Still, Emile has a thick accent and Radek has none - though they're both from the same village. I got over it though, appreciating the emotional performance.
If there were another book in this series, I'd snatch it right up.

Surprisingly sweet story with good narration

Yevhen, a werewolf and forest ranger and Radek, a fox made for a good story.

Radek is a brat, only wanting the avoid any and all responsibility and concentrate on finding his next party. He’s thrown for a loop when he discovers he’s a fox. When he crosses Yev, he doesn’t know he’s met his match and his future.

I really enjoy these authors. This story wasn’t as dark as most of the books they write. Yev and Radek were easy to like and their journey was sweetly romantic. I liked how they both grew with each other’s help. I also really enjoyed Radek’s inner thoughts when he woke as a fox.

I don’t believe I’ve listened to Wyatt Baker narrate before. I thought he did an excellent job with both men, especially Yev. This is a long book, and it took several days for me to listen to it.

I'll be honest and say that paranormal for the most part isn't my favorite to read but who doesn't like K.A. Merikan? I know I Do so I decided to give this book a go and I gotta Say, WOW!!! Wyatt Baker was an amazing narrator!!!

Fanfreakingfantastic!!

I loved this audiobook!! The storyline is fascinating! The treatment of the foxes and how that was addressed gave me new understanding. I felt this was developed into such an awe inspiring listen. Totally a new take on shifters in my opinion and the voices that come out of Wyatt Baker are fabulous!!
