Hello, friends! I'm Liz. I wrote Eat the Yolks. I'm a writer, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP™) certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association, a Public Health student, and an advocate for at-risk populations - like under-served youth and America's firefighters. At home, I'm a hobby farmer with pasture-raised goats, pigs and chickens; an organic garden; and unfortunately, a bit of a black thumb. My passion for real food is rooted in my own transformation. I got healthier, cleared acne, resolved skin issues, slept better, and felt better than ever before...simply by ditching the diet dogma (and the "whole grains," which are truly just processed foods in disguise) and filling my life with real, nourishing food. I’m not just talking about the kind of food that we already know is healthful - whole, nutritious vegetables and fruits. I'm also talking about the food that has always been food, like meat and fat from healthy, properly raised animals; healthy, whole plant fats from coconut and avocado, and more of the goodness we’ve been told not to eat for far too long out of fear of fat, cholesterol, and animal products. I wanted to know how it was possible that all the health issues I was told were caused by some of these foods - the so-called "dangerous," "unhealthy" ones, like meat and fat - were actually resolved because of them. I wanted to know why all the health problems these foods were supposed to cause actually increased in the United States right as we were told to stop eating them. Something just didn't add up. My quest to reveal the truth meant uncovering decades of lies, nutrition dogma, and plenty of processed junk disguised as health food. I trudged through years of propaganda and lies to discover the light at the end of the tunnel, and that light was nothing fancy. It was just real food. The food I talk about in Eat the Yolks. This book isn't about dogma, or rules, or trademarked Diet foods. It's about nutrition. It's about the intersection of good science, history, and common sense. It's about the foods that taste amazing, and that nourish mind, body and soul. It's just. Real. Food. (With some fun and some sarcasm mixed in - because laughing while you learn is a must.) Thanks for reading!
