Lori D. Johnson has an M.A. in Urban Anthropology from the University of Memphis. She is the author of two novels--After The Dance and A Natural Woman both by Kensington/Dafina. Her short stories and essays have appeared in a variety of publications, including Storyboard Memphis, Midnight & Indigo, Coolest American Stories 2022, SFWP Quarterly, The Root and Mississippi Folklife. Her recent writing honors include a 2021 Pushcart Prize nomination by Novel Slices, NELLE Literary Journal’s 2024 “Three Sisters Award” for creative non-fiction and an honorary mention in the 2024 Chapter One Prize of the Gutsy Great Novelist Contest.
