Chief Warrant Officer Five (Retired) M. Struemph was appointed as the first female State Command Chief Warrant Officer, Missouri Army National Guard on October 24, 2012. She was the state's senior ranking warrant officer who oversaw the morale, welfare, training, administration, selection and management of all Missouri National Guard warrant officers. She served on the Adjutant General's professional staff as an advisor on all warrant officer issues, policies, and initiatives. CW5 Struemph was an advocate of the esprit de corps of military competitive events, having competed in numerous regional, national, and international athletic events. Most notable was her participation in the sport of Biathlon for over ten years, successfully placing in many competitions. In 1996 she became the first in her state to make the Biathlon All Guard Team. She participated in the 2002 Winter Olympics and competed in the South American International Biathlon Championships in Argentina and Chile in 2003. CW5 Struemph was a five-time selectee of the United States Military Pentathlon Team, Confédération Interalliée des Officiers de Réserve (CIOR), competing internationally in Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and once stateside. CW5 Struemph stood up and organized the first Warrant Officer Advisory Council and Women's Mentorship Council for the Missouri Army National Guard, of which she served as the Chairwoman for both Councils. She also served as the Missouri National Guard Association President from 2015-2016, earning the first ever Legion de Lafayette for the Association during her tenure. CW5 Struemph retired in 2017, after serving 32 years, and now enjoys traveling, creating, and spending time with her family. She is now an award winning new author after publishing - Living with Trauma, Finding the Light Again. She is a huge advocate of supporting women who serve, have served, or will serve in our Armed Forces.
