De vijfjarige Milad Salama is met zijn klas op schoolreisje naar een speelparadijs vlak bij Jeruzalem als de schoolbus in botsing komt met een vrachtwagen en in brand vliegt. De Palestijn Abed raakt verstrikt in een bureaucratisch doolhof. Hij bevindt zich aan de verkeerde kant van de muur, heeft niet het vereiste identiteitsbewijs om de militaire controleposten te passeren en kan Jeruzalem niet in. Hij heeft geen idee waar zijn zoon is.
