Near Future Sci-Fi, that's gritty, dirty, realisti

If you enjoy a sci-fi that feels more real, then read this book. You can tell it's a setup book for getting the world set, and no one is safe, not even main cast. You can tell he knows military logic and thinking based on his studies and connections he has. As a Vet, I felt at home with many of the BTDT characters. The ASHUR are in play and feel like it's not overly magic wond working. It feels like it could very well be something in the near future. All the tech does honestly it's stuff the military is playing with now. I now suffer from slight ostraconophobia, but I'll still enjoy my seafood. I'm just going to make sure it's KTFed.
I'm already eagerly waiting for book two. This one set the scene and touched off the invitation.
Narration was good. Only criticism is some of the characters' lost accent or voice effects and picked them up again in the next line. kind of made you feel lost as to who had the line, but to be fair, a lot of stuff was going on in that proticulur chapter scene

So close to truth it's scary. Close tie in with actual headline new you would think the author has a time machine. thou his studied in history give him a insight into a alt future of the US. Was great to see old characters get more developed and some new ones show up to continue the struggle. eagerly awaiting the 3rd book now. waiting to see how it goes down now that both sides have drawn lines in the sand claiming victory.
