About this listen

Freedom is always worth fighting for!

Newmerica was forged out of a violent coup that superimposed a socialist state over what had been the United States of America. For five years into their rule, the progressives have had their way in dismantling every aspect of American life. Out of the shadows, a new American president has been sworn in, threatening their grip on the nation. The Newmericans are unwilling to turn over the reins of power setting the stage for a conflict unlike any other.

As a second American Civil War erupts, a unique ensemble of characters must struggle to find their place in the conflict and survive. One is a war veteran struggling with his reputation and deep personal loss. Another is a covert agent who must rescue a freedom fighter trapped behind the lines. Another is a Secret Service director on a race against time with an assassin. A college student tries to hide from social enforcers bent on making an example of her, and a military commander must face the ultimate test in battle. Against the backdrop of a presidential election that might fracture the nation even further, the enemies of freedom show their true colors and the depths they will go to hold onto power.

Woven from the tapestry of today’s headlines, Blaine Pardoe presents the gripping second book in the Blue Dawn series. One thing is certain, this internal struggle for control of the American way of life will be a most uncivil war!

2nd book is even more telling then 1st.

So close to truth it's scary. Close tie in with actual headline new you would think the author has a time machine. thou his studied in history give him a insight into a alt future of the US. Was great to see old characters get more developed and some new ones show up to continue the struggle. eagerly awaiting the 3rd book now. waiting to see how it goes down now that both sides have drawn lines in the sand claiming victory.

Bad stereo type narration

The story is a good one as long as you can get through the painful narration. I have been an Audible customer since 2006 and as of writing this review I have 1179 titles in my library so I am a fair judge of narration. I am not sensitive or politically correct so I will just say that Ramon sounds like a drunk retarded Speedy Gonzales. I worked in produce for 11 years and never heard a Mexican guy speak so slowly and dimwittedly. Thankfully I can make the audio speed up when I get to where this character is speaking. Duke Fountain, Ray Porter, Kevin Pierce, or Andrew Wehrlen would be better narrators for this story. Sorry for the hate, but I am annoyed by the distraction.

Solid Follow Up!

Book 2 and very well done and organized. I like the flashbacks, but maybe do them in bigger chunks? I think its mostly the narrator I can't tell any of the characters apart so the flashback could be confusing about who was who. Also why does every forget Arizona? Need some AZ gunslingers! very good continuation from Blue Dawn if you liked book 1 you'll like book 2.

A Breath of Fresh Air

FINALLY! A well written series of modern political fiction where the demonized conservatived are the heroes and the radical facist liberals are the villains as they are in real life!

Excellent Sequel

A good follow up to the first novel. Nicely paced with the right amount of action, background and character development. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Excellent book, poorly read.

The second in the series doesn't disappoint. Thoroughly engaging and entertaining. However, the narration once again fails to deliver. While possessing an easy to listen to, radio-like tone. The frequency of mispronounced words and emotionless delivery do not favor the text. I still recommend it, albeit while wishing for another rendition.

Book 2

Great story, not overly preachy or full of dogma. I like how it's conservative but doesn't really point to specific conservatives as saints, etc. While this book is definitely not for liberal leaning readers, it doesn't make liberals demons either, only the politicians and extremists are the villains
