Definitely a fun little ride. I was entertained and the twists were worth it. Hope there's a part 2 - I somehow felt compassion for all the characters, and would be curious to see what happens next.

100% Predictable, & Don't Switch a Horses Midstream. Save Your Credit.
Reviewed: 11-02-24
I knew the moment I heard the first communication between Hanna and Gus that he wasn't alive anymore. Yes, I'm spoiling it for you; if you read the first book, it's so obvious. SAVE YOUR CREDIT.
Don't switch horses midstream: narrator wasn't bad but she wasn't as good as the one from the first book. This one didn't use a Swedish accent for Alex, and she couldn't pronounce the Swedish words, like "lilla gumman". She also kept referring to them as the "Jensens" - pronounced with a soft J - but in the first book there was an entire mention of the last name being pronounced "Yensen". WHY DIDN'T THIS NARRATOR EVEN LISTEN TO THE FIRST BOOK BEFORE HER ORATION IN THIS ONE?!!
TERRIBLE. Save your credit; I'm completely done with this author. Could've been SO much better.

A true story of forgiveness and redemption. Surviving childhood abuse, trauma, debt and homelessness, Scott aka Bill has written a solid, well-rounded non-fiction book that should appeal to anyone whose ever going to die. An excellent read, and one of the few remaining career paths that cannot be replicated by a computer or robot: too much need for compassion, empathy and respect amid rejection, traits which Bill indubitably possesses. Spend your credit - this one's worth it.

As Melissa Bond raises her infant daughter and a special-needs one-year-old son, she suffers from unbearable insomnia, sleeping an hour or less each night. She loses her job as a journalist (a casualty of the 2008 recession), and her relationship with her husband grows distant. Her doctor casually prescribes benzodiazepines—a family of drugs that includes Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, Ativan—and increases her dosage regularly.

So BORING. No mention of Benzos & I'm halfway through book.
Reviewed: 03-08-24
This is chapter after chapter of descriptions of pregnancy. Detailed, gruesome depictions of pregnancy.
No talk of benzos, just Ambien, which isn't a benzo. Stupid book, too much faux writing imitating a literary master or boho beatnik, but comes across as juvenile attempt at trying to sound hip. Don't bother. I'm going to exchange for my credit back.

Chris Watts was a family man. Everybody, including his family, believed that. Yet, on August 13, 2018, he murdered Shanann, his pregnant wife, and two young daughters. As terrible as his story is, it is also a warning because to this day, living behind bars, Watts is still acting out the character traits that made him kill in the first place.

Listen to John Glatt's Book Instead
Reviewed: 03-04-24
Author states she has no business psychoanalyzing Chris Watts. Proceeds to spend the remainder of the book psychoanalyzing Chris. If ANYONE was a narcissist in their relationship, it's Shanann, who literally meets all the criteria, especially her need to force her husband to partake in countless social media videos for her own gain.
We tend never to victim-blame, but once a person is gone, it doesn't negate the fact that they were once here and also had traits that contribute to this horrific event. Nobody has discussed how Shannan may very likely have had Munchausens, and with the kids as sickly, MBy Proxy as well. We won't every know to what extent this may have appeared as the children grew. Regardless, this book is trash, and describes the events of that night incorrectly,.
This author even suggests "malignant narcissism" ,- a diagnosis that doesn't exist ANYWHERE in the DSM-V, yet is a construct of .... drum roll...Dr. Phil, TV's worst doctor who isn't a doctor, who is mentioned numerous times in this book.
Come on, now. Get the true account from John Glatt's book instead. Even though that, inexplicably, has a British narrator, it's a much more comprehensive book. It definitely doesn't say "I will not diagnose Chris" then spend the entirety of the book diagnosing Chris (incorrectly).

Great Info, Terrible Narration
Reviewed: 02-06-24
I watched The Office from the very first episode when it first aired through the finale, and have watched it countless times, all the way through, since (skipping Scott's Tots.... which I thought was funny in the book, where I learned about how most people seem to feel this way). The info was stellar.... even though I listen to Brian's podcast, the Office Ladies podcast, have read Jenna and Angela's book and have watched virtually everything on YouTube there is to know about The Office, there were some insightful parts (like deducing from the interviews, clearly everyone thought working with James Spader was tedious at best).
The narration, however, was terrible. Only Angela and Craig sounded like they could pass for their real voices. This made it hard to distinguish who was talking, when. It's done similarly in Andy Greene's book, but it works there because they state their name each time, then make their comment. Here it's difficult to tell one voice from the next. Occasionally I could tell by vocal mannerisms, cadence and context when it was Steve, Rainn, Oscar, Creed, Meredith or Jenna (truly horrible Jenna voice), but overall it was a struggle. Probably better as a written book, which is sad because I love the voices of the actors - I'm used to hearing them for almost 2 decades in my home. Great book, Brian; needs better narration to stick the landing.

Story
In March 2015, Denise Huskins and her boyfriend Aaron Quinn awoke from a sound sleep into a nightmare. Armed men bound and drugged them, then abducted Denise. Warned not to call the police or Denise would be killed, Aaron agonized about what to do. Finally he put his trust in law enforcement and dialed 911. But instead of searching for Denise, the police accused Aaron of her murder. His story, they told him, was just unbelievable. When Denise was released alive, the police turned their fire on her, dubbing her the “real-life ‘Gone Girl’” who had faked her own kidnapping.

Stop with Cats and Get a Guard Dog
Reviewed: 01-26-24
What a harrowing, traumatic experience!
Grateful they both survived and eventually thrived, though, having suffered through a rape myself, I can't even imagine the pain of facing the media spotlight and public scrutiny, nor the malicious intent of both the police and the FBI, like Denise and Aaron did. Not being believed, and suffering through so many revictimization traumas, is unimaginable.
May they enjoy peace with their 2 daughters, and I hope they consider getting a big female guard dog named Mrs. Rogers to protect their family and home in the future, so that nobody can break in 5 times eventually leading to committing a much more viciously heinous offense.
I think Andrea (Jennifer's real name) and her former-policeman husband have more to do with this crime than anybody knows at this point. Muller did not act alone.
Highly recommended book, as well as American Nightmare on Netflix, which thoroughly covers this horrific true crime.

Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Never Heard of Jenette Before This Book
Reviewed: 01-07-24
I read some great reviews of this book so I checked Jenette's filmography and discography. I've never seem a single show that's she's been in. But her book was terrific. That's all I'll state because Jenette made it clear in her book that people who have time to write reviews don't have much going on in their lives. I do, so this is brief, but she deserves applause for her bravery in writing this.
Also thankful that I never heard of a stupid character who hits people with a sock full off butter. That sounds ridiculous.
