Time flew and this book had me enthralled. I actually like the fmc, she’s compelling, and consistent but still able to grow. the two love interest even tho I wasn’t convinced at first it grew and the pacing was quick but not lacking.

Story
Victor thought he won when he became the Hero. He thought he won when he took over the DFZ. He thought he’d made himself untouchable. He’s wrong. Lola isn’t the sad little monster she used to be. She has a plan, she has allies, she has more magic than she ever dreamed possible. Killing one blood mage should be easy with a fairy kingdom at her fingertips, but Victor didn't make himself a god by playing fair, and his bag of tricks is far from empty.

Not as good as the other 2 series in this universe
Reviewed: 03-20-24
I really love this world Rachel has made, as for the characters they are really good too. Personally I didn't love Lola, but I think that's just cause she had a more child like mind then the other two female leads in the other two series. So personally it was hard to relate to her but I really loved the exploration of blood mages and magic. its why I will read every book/series in this setting, because I find the world building so fun and interesting. Overall the dfz changeling trilogy was fun, and Alice in wonderland esk. So gotta have a more open mind to accept all the wackyness.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

The divergent of this generation, Entertaining but
Reviewed: 01-30-24
I read this book because its so raved about but also so hated so I wanted to listen and judge for myself. This book is not reinventing the wheel, its not deep, its not lore forward, its a romantasy, a romance taking place in a fantasy setting. if you're here for cool dragons & dragon lore, this aint it chief. Dragons are the sub plot to the sub plot. It reads like a YA book but with laced with adult themes. I do think this book had potential to be really good, but too many things are glossed over and rushed, side characters aren't important its really just the two MC's and that's okay, if you can look past those things, this book is entertaining, but its in the same way as reality tv is entertaining. it is the fast food of the romantasy genera.
Oh but the Voice actors really carried this story, 10/10 gold stars to them,

couldn't stop listening it was so fun and funny, and the romance was good. Personally talks of gore etc, doesn't bother me, I didn't take the book seriously either, its like watching a rom com about Dexter. I'm glad I didn't let the other comments mentioning sound effects ruining it for them, it was so minor it didn't effect my experience. I wish it was longer but since its suppose to be a trilogy, I'm deff gonna be picking up the next book. Also the voice actors 10/10.

January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb.... As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends - and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is.

I love the way this story is written in letter form. It gives a real feel for the time period. I, like Juliet, also fell in love with Guernsey and all its inhabitants. I want to go there so bad and this book teleports me there.
Bravo

Centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones, House Targaryen - the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria - took up residence on Dragonstone. Fire & Blood begins their tale with the legendary Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold that iconic seat, all the way up to the civil war that nearly tore their dynasty apart.

My name is Opal Yong-ae, and I’m a Cleaner. At least, I used to be. Thanks to the supernatural bad luck that turns everything I do against me, these days I’m more of a walking disaster. Getting rid of this curse is the only way to get my life back. Unfortunately, dragon magic is every bit as sneaky and deadly as the monsters behind it, and just as hard to beat.
