Story
When Jonathon Fairfax accidentally helps a murderer bump off Sarah Morecambe, the secretary of a senior politician, he sets off a chain of events that astonishes him. Teaming up with a suave private investigator, a glamorous granny and the probable love of his life, Jonathon must confront his greatest fears - including talking to girls and balaclava-clad killers - and answer some very difficult questions.

Exceptional Writing

The story is imaginative from the first sentence to the last. The characters are vivacious and witty. The main character's thought trails are full of imagery and smartassery. Each sentence is crafted with similes and metaphors that bring the story to life. Listened to the story non-stop (except when sleeping).

I didn't get to finish the book because the timer was stuck - said I had 10 hours to listen to it, but wouldn't let me play the rest. It was interesting. The opening game session was funny. I liked it. The rest was tensionless. The story was good. Too bad I couldn't find out the end.

I'm so excited for the next book. The narrator is top notch. I swear I heard some Alex Verris in there though. :-) The setting feels new, and the magic is just different enough to seem unique. So good.

Story
Belisarius is a quantum man, an engineered Homo quantus who fled the powerful insight of dangerously addictive quantum senses. He found a precarious balance as a con man, but when a client offers him untold wealth to move a squadron of warships across an enemy wormhole, he must embrace his birthright to even try. In fact, the job is so big that he'll need a crew built from all the new sub-branches of humanity. If he succeeds, he might trigger an interstellar war, but success might also point the way to the next step of Homo quantus evolution.

The peformance was top notch. All of the different voices, and how those voices changed, brought the story to life. Overall the plot wasn't complex, but the adventure was grand. The boss fight was underwhelming, but the battle with the undead was epic.

*****Spoilers***** Character Reveal is Unbalanced.
Reviewed: 10-02-22
First, the narration is top notch. I did hear where words or phrases were inserted - quite a difference from the original. Minor criticism though. The reason for the low rating is all of the Male characters were awful people, just downright terrible human beings. All of the Female characters were broken, desperate, or victims of the men in the story. The only person not in that category was Pat. Strike and RE have their own things, but they too fell into thise roles at times. RE was heroic at points and that was welcome. Third, the ending. It felt like the reveal of who "Animee" was so sudden, with one piece of evidence that negated all of the work done - red herrings. The best part of the interview with the would be publisher. A good read except for those points. I really enjoyed the private chat conversations. Looking forward to the next.
