Story
Three generations of Schmidts have run their family’s beachfront restaurant and Jack has been at the helm since the death of his father. Jack puts the demands of the restaurant above all else, with a string of failed relationships, no hobbies, and no days off as proof of his commitment to the place. He can’t remember the last time he sat on the beach, or even enjoyed a moment to himself. Meanwhile, the DelDine group has been gradually snapping up beloved eateries along this stretch of coast and are pursuing Jack with a very generous offer to take Schmidt’s off his hands.

Loved the description and thought put into this book about place. It really does create a foundation for story as its own entity

Story
When Marilyn Kleinman is caught making out with the rabbi’s son in front of the whole congregation, her parents ship her off to her great-aunt Ada for the summer. If anyone can save their daughter’s reputation, it’s Philadelphia’s strict premier matchmaker. Either that or Marilyn can kiss college goodbye. To Marilyn’s surprise, Ada’s not the humorless septuagenarian her mother described. Not with that platinum-blonde hair, Hermès scarf, and Cadillac convertible. She’s sharp, straight-talking, takes her job very seriously, and abides by her own rules…mostly.

Story
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Loving the life life gave you
Reviewed: 05-09-23
This story was originally so difficult to get into. I tried crazily to keep trying to find something the grab me in the beginning. Maybe it’s the authenticity that the author intended? When I finally got into the book what an adventurous ride it took me on. Not one to get time travel Orr quantum physics it beguiled me into how this story would turn out. Deep soul searching and many reflections later it got me. Be alive, live your given one, and maybe you can get what need and also get what you want.

Story
In the South, you always say “yes, ma’am” and “no, ma’am.” You know everybody’s business. Football is a lifestyle, not a pastime. Food — especially dessert — is almost a religious experience. And you protect your friends as fiercely as you protect your family — even if the threat is something you cannot see.

Excellent and surprisingly deep dives into modern Sputhern influence on friendship. True blue bonds that are never severed no matter life, drama, and death. This story took you to places you never knew you wanted to go. Makes you laugh out loud and has you blubbering like a baby tissues needed crying. All the right ingredients in this tale of the secret to hummingbird cake. Make me want to bake right now.

What a surprise favorite read for the year. Taking a very tender subject and weaving into a beautiful tale of bravery and selflessness. Domestic violence is shown in light that seldom gets shown. This book depicts the glass house many live in and explains the whys and whynots of the people who are in it. The perspective it brings empowers and champions those who don’t let cycle of violence continue. Simply breathless after reading. Must read for all women every where.

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Story
Over the last few decades, Americans have turned college admissions into a terrifying and occasionally devastating process, preceded by test prep, tutors, all sorts of stratagems, all kinds of rankings, and a conviction among too many young people that their futures will be determined and their worth established by which schools say yes and which say no.
