WOW! Best Bio Ever! So glad I downloaded and Listened to ALL of This Amazing Audiobook!!!
Reviewed: 07-31-24
This was an awesome bio that had me not once skipping ahead. I didn't want to miss any important points and it was ALL filled from beginning to end with important points! I have so much respect for Allyson.Never would have guessed she and I had anything in common in our respective childhoods in SoCal of the 1970s, but we had a lot in common and not just childhood stuff but young adulthood onwards too. I appreciated Allyson's candor and daring openness sharing truths about other characters and never in any means or vindictive way, yet never sugar coating or BSing about people and things either. I could go on and on about all the specific things I learned about Allyson's adulthood work for causes important to her and most of us too but that is spoilers that would ruin other Audible members from enjoying listening and discovering for themselves while enjoying the great Biography. My only warning is this --- This has some very difficult issues in spots so not for people easily triggered -- if you are going through something major listen to this when you are in a better place/frame of mind. But DO Listen to ALL of this Bio, whether a fan of Allyson or not, you won't regret it. I sure didn't!

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

Story
Maud is an irascible 88-year-old Swedish woman with no family, no friends, and...no qualms about a little murder. Ever since her darling father's untimely death when she was only 18, Maud has lived in the family's spacious apartment in downtown Gothenburg rent-free, thanks to a minor clause in a hastily negotiated contract. That was how Maud learned that good things can come from tragedy. Now in her late 80s, Maud contents herself with traveling the world and surfing the net from the comfort of her father's ancient armchair. It's a solitary existence, and she likes it that way.

Almost perfect dark humor sprinkled cozy...
Reviewed: 07-29-24
The short audio book was a great cozy read, worth of 4 stars there was only 1 thing that did not make sense at all considering the shart as a sabre screwed old lady (main character) and her habit of leaving nothing on obviously awry to get herself caught too soon in the story. I will state no more than that to keep from exposing too much in the way of "spoilers." Otherwise this was a great book for just before bed or starting up you morning with a cuppa coffee ☕

Well first I gotta thank TikTok for inundating me for the last yr + with mentions of this Prepper book let's title til it stuck in my brain like a wad of chewed wet gum! Also I must preface by saying, re this audio booklet, though the Subject Matter Isn't Funny Everything Posited As Advice Herein Is #HilariousAF !! As soon as she was advising us how we need to "spread out all our USD cash across several different banks insured FDIC over $250k," I was astounded and cracking up at the level of privileged audacity and next level neivete' the author shows! Also the disconnect from her supposed initial touted main reader/audience! If I had the expendable income to buy all recommended and do all advised I. this bookI wouldhaa e to be at the least with either upper middle class level of cash and credit reserves and or have a wealthy mommy and or daddy to borrow the $ from! Most like myself have neither at this point upon which to rely post pandemic so kinda not helpful, But at least I got a good 20 or so minutes of laughter therapy to help improve my hear, lungs and brain health! The person that did the voice work for this was excellent professional as evidence they did not once show signs of laughter, this why I gave them excellent review!

Story
Why did Agatha Christie spend her career pretending that she was "just" an ordinary housewife, when clearly she wasn't? Lucy Worsley's biography is not just of a massively, internationally successful writer. It's also the story of a person who, despite the obstacles of class and gender, became an astonishingly successful working woman. With access to rarely seen personal letters and papers, Lucy Worsley's biography is both authoritative and entertaining and makes us realize what an extraordinary pioneer Agatha Christie was—truly a woman who wrote the twentieth century.

Surprising, In a Good Way!
Reviewed: 07-22-24
Really was surprised by a lot of what I learned from this biography of my newly found out about cousin, Agatha Christie. I admit I had sense she wove a bit of her own personality into her main female characters but I had no idea of her younger self and life experiences many suitors, etc. So many surprises I quite enjoyed most of them. I appreciate her as a more real, multifaceted human woman and not the mere Character version of a personae she preferred to be known as during her lifetime ( at least as far as the public was concerned)... definitely I recotthis book to anyone who loves mysteries whether or not you like Agatha Christie you ought to give this a read/listen! It's worth the time and effort.

Since the dawn of the digital age, decision-making in finance, politics, health, and human services has undergone revolutionary change. Today, automated systems control which neighborhoods get policed, which families attain needed resources, and who is investigated for fraud. While we all live under this new regime of data, the most invasive and punitive systems are aimed at the poor. In Automating Inequality, Virginia Eubanks systematically investigates the impacts of data mining, policy algorithms, and predictive risk models on poor and working-class people in America.

If you are female or femme and seek inspiration or recognition of your divine feminine, start with this audiobook, ASAP!!
