Wanted to love it... but couldn't!

Well shoot. I really wanted to love this one... the concept is intriguing. A family with dark secrets on Halloween night at a remote home you can't leave until low tide the following morning. But unfortunately, it just felt like a terrible modern day knock-off of "And Then There Were None". I didn't like any of the characters except for Nana but she was knocked off first. Wait I take that back, I liked the dog but she needed a bigger role. The book was so jam packed with anecdotes I felt like I was reading from a quote book rather than a novel. The plot twist at the end was so dumb. I really just started laughing at all of the ways the characters died.

Delightful story with well developed characters. Great narrator too, I could listen to her all day.

A lovely quirky story about grief. The Titanic scene at the end left me laugh/crying.

Fast-paced and interesting read that I enjoyed while I was immersed. HOWEVER, thinking about it after had me knocking stars off left and right. The kind of book I would give 4 stars to and then after discussing in book club would go down to 2 (or maybe even 1).

Very enjoyable summer read! For a light, semi-unrealistic book it went deeper than I would have expected.

I had no idea what it was about and I think that was a good way to do this one... read it blind. Great mystery, fast-paced and entertaining!

I think this book would have been better if I read rather than listened. The narrator made it somehow seem cheesy at times. It has such big hype that I was disappointed.

Such a great listen. An incredibly quirky, funny and heartwarming story of Gay Uncle Patrick helping his niece Maize and nephew Grant through grief and tragedy.

I loved this one. It was just a kind of slow story about a small town, but I fell in love with the characters and really enjoyed the voice of the main character Jane. Really nice audible.
